Hey, it's the guy from Degrassi!

I have yet to meet anyone who admits to listening to any of his music.

I kind agree with his sentiment, BUT
I have a friend who is an accomplished songwriter and touring musician that would argue that the talent writing the songs should also get paid more. I bet that's something Drake doesn't agree with.

The Labels would game that.

I was with him at first, knowing that Spotify pays shiat to artists in general. A lot of the indie and sludge/stoner metal bands I listen to can't making a living off Spotify so they tour constantly and likely have side jobs. I order their CDs off bandcamp just to support them. The CDs go into a box.

But then I clicked the link and read the headline and he can fark all the way off.

So he passed 75 billion streams? Wow, that's like a hundred and fifty bucks on Spotify. Good for him. Now maybe in another thousand years he can move the f*ck out of Canada.

/Spotify is cancer
//Move to Tidal
///Drake sucks

I buy all my music from BandCamp. It's THE way to support the artists/bands.

Didn't this guy get caught dating high schoolers or some shiat why is he still around?

He's one of those celebrities I have an unreasonable hatred for , I don't even know why really.

I like "Nice for What." *shrug*

Although as far as Canadian musical artists, I'm more of a Rush fan.

Yep. For streaming, I host my own Plex server on a RAID. Buy the music, own it for life. It's the only way.

So he made 265k in one day from streams?

I can't really get myself outraged about this, but he has a point. But his comment about "competitive music" is farking dumb.

You should crawl out of the basement once in a while.

Like him or not, he's one of the most listened to "artists" ever.

I stream over YouTube Music (fka Google Play). General rule of thumb is that if I think an album is worth listening to more than 2 times than the artist deserves a bigger cut of my money than what YouTube gives them.

Spotify turns 17 this year. If they can wait him out for another year he'll probably lose interest.

Oh look...an artist who participates in a genre that's typically "here today.....gone later today" thinks he should be getting more money.

If he's so upset he can just not renew his contract with his label, pay out of pocket to produce his own music, make his own label and then negotiate with Spotify for the rights to stream his music.

Drake is embarrassingly bad.  I mean, like farkin' horrible.   How he makes any money at all is amazing to me.

I Guess it costs a lot of money to take underaged dates to Olive Garden.

According to Celeb Net Worth Drake is worth $250 million and pulls in $70 million a year.

That dude can go right to hell.

My bandmate and I have two EPs on Spotify and have a running joke that one day, we'll put together enough in royalties to have a taco and beer night.

Not there quite yet.

Goddamned right!

If it's good it'll go on my running mix and it'll go into rotation.

Give it up!

Doubtful given that he probably has tons of producer credits himself.
