America is doomed. No, seriously, the body politic cannot support this kind of delusion. We are doomed.

These people will probably be defeated in 2024, but they will nurse their wounds, persevere, and refine, expand, and attempt to immanentize their delusions. They will concentrate on further infiltration and radicalization of the military. They will return to power - which they will not cede peacefully - in either 2028 or 2032. So, roughly, 2032 or 2036 is when the SHTF. That is when democracy dies and hot civil war (between military factions) begins.

A lot of this speculation depends on what happens with Russia and Putin. This is because much of the black money and mis-/dis-information on the far right is coming from places like the IRA and the FSB (KGB with a name change). Unless that support is stopped at the source, it will continue to empower the march of fascism in western democracies.

What's the solution? I don't know. How do you treat mass delusion? How do you COMBAT it in the marketplace of ideas? I don't know.

I switch jobs over the summer. I am now in a rural school with a two minority students. You might watch the video and think they picked out the dumbest of the dumb. You would be wrong.  I have honestly had more than one person sneak into the building looking for litterboxes in the restrooms. I had families threaten to switch schools because I mentioned Hispanic Heritage Month. Just last night, I had to tell the families that having children dress up like cliche Italians and mobsters to serve a spaghetti dinner is not acceptable.

These people are real.

There are very good odds that they don't actually vote.  One of the more interesting things about the rise of MAGA were numerous anecdotes I read about working class whites voting for the first time ever because of Trump.  The Republican party is primarily a white working class party now and one of the problems with less educated voters is that they are less likely to consistently vote - especially in midterms.  I think it's entirely likely that this person never votes again as long as Donald Trump doesn't appear on the ballot.

Well, it was a DC 25. He rolled a 3 and claimed he had +22 points in WIZ, INT, and CHA modifiers, could use all 3 because of a feat he took from an esoteric rulebook he couldn't find at the moment (but trust him it was legal), and still demanded a reroll because of a rigged die.

It's weird.  Schitzoids like me are said to have too strong an internal fantasy life and yet these people are "normal".  I guess the main diff is theirs is mostly external fantasy and they won't stfu about it?  Are they actually happier than me?

Mental health should be a much bigger concern to the citizens of the US.  ALL of us are having issues right now; at the very least most of us have PTSD from trying to stay functional in this clown house full of axe murderer clowns.

Yup. I've been saying it for years. Ever since they decided to live in an alternate reality of their own creation with their conspiracy theories, cries of "FAKE NEWS", and their declaration of "alternative facts", our nation's fate has been sealed. If this was some small fringe group, the United States could survive it. But this is now not only the Republican mainstream, this is entirety of what the Republican Party is. Over seventy million people voted for Hair Furor in 2020. Tens of millions of people are just waiting for the right code phrase from the Fanta Menace to storm Washington again or start hunting liberals.

Yeah, I'm not so sure of that. With their unchecked gerrymandering, they're probably going to keep the House, if not expand their majority. With the split vote that's likely to occur in the Arizona Senate race, that seat will probably go Republican in 2024, and if Democrats lose just another seat or two elsewhere, then they will be minorities in both Houses. While I'm pretty sure Biden can still win 2024 if he's in the race, there is also a good chance he'll contract some devastating illness that will force him to resign, or he could just plain die between now and then, and I seriously doubt Harris can pull in enough votes to win. If Biden isn't the 2024 nominee, I'm pretty sure Republicans will own all three branches of government starting in 2025.

I don't know either. It would be nice if the Democratic Party tried to figure out how to use propaganda to get more people to vote for them, or at the very least demoralize Republicans enough so some of them just stop voting, but they don't seem to want to bother. Other than that, I'm not sure it's possible to deprogram tens of millions of people who have sealed themselves up in their own reality bubble.

So yeah... we're farked.

I think you are giving too much credit for the average media consumers intelligence. Exposure to these ideas is why QANON exist and a group of seditionist attacked the capital.

I remember this documentary on Neo-Nazis that some dude did for Vice, an she's talking to some Neo-Nazi chick and she's all "The Holocaust was made up! It didn't happen!" and then like 2 minutes later she's like "And then we can bring another Holocaust onto the Jews--I mean, um, a first one..."

There might be some true believers who legitimately think Trump is still president, but I'm betting a whole lot of them know he isn't, with his ability to run in 2024 being the main reason they actually know the truth. It's just a tactic to de-legitimize Biden any way they can.

Did you hear the ABC is shutting down 538 because of they choice of really crappy polls? That was something I was wonder about their choice and reliance on really crappy polls for the past decade or so, and then the Mothership shuts down their polling because it turned out to be true
