Recoil Therapy: We've got nothing going on (well, fixing dinner) so have this queued up for this weekend's sort of hockey fix.  Absolutely not going to watch the all star game tomorrow (?), but these competitions can occasionally be amusing (like when PK cane out wearing a Jagr mullet years ago.  I think JJ was laughing the hardest).

Usually I find the skills competition more fun to watch than the 3-on-3 all-star mini-tournament, so I may or may not tune in tomorrow.  Maybe it's time to retire that format?  I wouldn't mind if they went back having each team's captain draft their teams.  Tonight though, I'm looking forward to a couple of the events.  Breakaway is always fun, Splash Shot (the dunk tank event) and Pitch n' Puck sound like they could be amusing.  And I think it'll be cool to see the female players taking shots on the NHL All-Star goalies in the Tendy Tandem event.

I have no idea what the actual event was going to be, but now I want to see players take shots at a gator filled pond with pucks made from chicken.

- Miss the net, your opponent goalie faces 1 shooter
- Hit the blue, your opponent goalie faces 2 shooters
- Score a goal, your opponent goalie faces 3 shooters

When it was originally explained, I thought it was the two teammates, y'know, working as a tandem. If you score the goal, your teammate gets an easy one-person breakaway. If you miss completely, your teammate gets the hard 3-on-0.
But also, seems a little unfair that sometimes the breakaway is current all-stars, and sometimes it's retired players or PHF players.

Yeah, they really should not have used the word "teammate."  You're trying to make it as hard as possible on the guy you're paired with.
