a move it said would end up costing them nearly $6,000 in lost travel arrangements.

Enjoy your stupid prize.

Until some other school says the group has done this before...I will believe the group

The Hoks have pulled some shady shiat in the past decade or so.

tickets that the Orange Krush had legally purchased

Impersonating a charitable organization to score discount sportsball tickets is legal? Count your blessings for having gotten away with it for so long and not being prosecuted now, and have fun paying scalpers' prices from here on out, assholes.

"it's not fair!  we always lie that we are a charity so we make it oh so sweeter to reveal ourselves as having infiltrated your arena!"

so they are salty that their lame shtick got found out and they got played instead

womp womp

I just love that the media headlines call this a "prank" instead of what it truly is:  fraud.  I wish the "Illinois Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs" that they masqueraded as would sue the privileged jerk-off that arranged this.

Charitable foundations can only exist by the goodwill that they can cultivate.  A bottom-feeding toad can ruin a good organizations hard earned respect by stupid actions like this.

The sad thing is that he will suffer no retribution, learn no lesson, and will thrive in this country's culture of lack of accountability.

also not too bright to say you are a charity from the town the school is in when you are known for doing such shady things and verifying it only takes one phone call or email

i wondered if iowa figured it out right after the ticket purchase and then waited for the last minute to cancel the tickets just to fark them extra hard

How about when the the person who bought the tickets publicly admitted it?

Rauman said Thursday the group routinely uses an assumed identity to buy tickets for its annual road trip to an opponent arena. The reason, he said, is that he would expect an order from a group that cheers for the visitor and heckles the home team would be rejected.

For last year's trip to Purdue, he said, he successfully bought 50 tickets for a group of "Boy Scouts." He said he also has bought tickets for a "family reunion."

A dirty piece of shiat protecting an even bigger dirty piece of shiat, that is Iowa basketball.

I just want to add, them lying to get tickets isn't the problem I see here. If they want to say they are a group of employees from some company or a local basketball group or something, I couldn't care less.

But there are two big caveats:

1) Don't use a well known charitable organization and make the other guy think they are helping kids.
2) Don't go whining when you get caught, you took the risk and they have every right to cancel tickets obtained under false pretenses.

If they are then donating money to that group, I don't see a problem with it
This group has donated millions to charity over the years

Based on projected beer sales alone, a bachelor party might have gotten lower rates than a religious group.
