(Some Guy)   Startup carrier Avelo puts Delaware back on the aviation map. Honestly, it's unclear if Delaware is on any map let alone an aviation map   (thepointsguy.com) divider line

There is a big airline facility there that airlines use to repaint their planes and upgrade them at.

Take two big steps and you're out of state anyway.

I drove down 1 for the first time in at least a few months and saw an Avelo billboard somewhere north of Dover I think. I believe my exact words were "what the fark is Avelo?"

This was a quick answer to something I forgot to look up when I got to the beach house.

Big meh from me. Wilmington airport has always wanted something like what Frontier provides to Trenton - 5-10 flights per day to a bunch of destinations - and has been through half a dozen carriers in the last 20 years trying to get that. The problem is PHL is 20 minutes away from Wilmington city, there isn't much of a population in Southern Delaware / Eastern Shore, and for anyone South of Dover, it's generally similar timing to get to BWI.

American Airlines used to fly a ridiculous flight from Allentown to Philadelphia (a 60-90 minute drive.) Now they have a really nice bud you can buy a seat on as part of your ticket. Wilmington is way closer to PHL; an airport bud you could access with one ticket would sure be convenient.

I flew Avelo once. It's not as barebones as The Grace L Ferguson Airlines and Stormdoor Company.

I took a couple of Frontier flights from Wilmington (technically New Castle County Airport, ILG) to Florida when Frontier operated them. Not bad, can't argue with the convenience, no parking fees etc.
