The commercials make American football unwatchable already. Doubling down on them, plus adding a bunch of shiat no one cares about at halftime just makes it less watchable. Maybe I'll have it on in the background with no sound, but I'd rather gouge out my eyes than actually pay attention. If you want me to watch watch, tape delay it and edit out everything that's not the ball in play, lose the commentary and dub in a banging soundtrack. I'd watch that.

I can watch any of those trailers on Youtube, maybe even a few minutes earlier. Without sitting through a million other insipid capitalist cries for attention and a game I'm not interested in.

And I don't want to watch them. I've already seen two Ant-Man and GotG trailers, I don't want to see any more - half the plots are already given up in the trailers, I don't need the other half until I see the actual damn movies.

There's a limit to what you can do on network television, and once you could reliably watch videos online that weren't subject to those restrictions, it gave people a lot more freedom.

I used to love the Superbowl. It was several hours undisturbed with women looking to get even with their emotionally abusive partners.

That's it, fellas. Keep watching the game. Woooo! Have some more spicy chicken wings and fart in each other's faces for laughs. Enjoy those funny commercials and the big halftime show! We're just gonna go check out that sale at Macy's and then maybe go for dessert after. We'll be a few hours and totally out of your way. We'll find ways to keep busy, don't worry!

Same way I watch it every year*

1) Begin consuming edibles first thing in the AM
2) Prepare delicious finger foods that can be consumed throughout the day
3) More edibles, start cocktails
4) Put on the first of several Kung-Fu movies
5) Repeat steps 3-4 until completely satisfied and game is well over

*Add like-minded friends and family as you see fit.

Eh, somewhat. The actual books themselves and the stories therein? No. The characters, movie stories, TV shows and merch? Very much mainstream.

There was a shift in comic book nerdery when Avengers 2 came out. What book-focused folks were left were drowned out by the influx of 'fandom' folks and fandom is wildly different than being an actual comic book nerd. I miss cons that had more back issues than Funko Pops or $120 action figures.

Commercials are what pays the bills. The ads will NEVER keep you from seeing a minute of the action. If the mere existence of ads is the problem that I don't know what to say to such an entitled person. I suspect that there are more minutes of adds in standard prime time TV than in any 30 minute period in a football game that doesn't include halftime.
