(Radio Insight)   It's kinda like how a company can buy naming rights to a sports venue. Norfolk, VA's ESPN Radio station just renamed itself for a corporate sponsor. The station will now be known as "FARK.com Duke Sucks Radio 94.1"   (radioinsight.com) divider line

My friend used to host their evening drive time slot.  Little did he know that he was just keeping the seat warm for a year while they played hardball with the veteran sports talk guy who was prolonging his contract negotiations.

He gave up radio after that.

Coming soon: company buys naming rights to radio station, becomes the next Enron, and hilarity ensues.

Spotify usually. Sometimes an audio book. I had a loaner car recently and turned on the radio, found a classic rock channel and in 45 minutes I think I heard 2 songs.

*Confused Look*

Er... was this before, or after, competing 93.3 WMMR had Hawaiian Shirt Gonzo Friday on the Morning Zoo with John DiBella and Mark "the Shark" Drucker in the 1980s?

It sounds as clunky as one would think when they run the station ID's.

Also, station owned by Sinclair Communications.

YouTube Music. CBC Radio One is the only over-the-air station I listen to, when I do so at all. I listen, via TuneIn, to Raidio na Gaeltachta (the Irish-language radio service of RTE) more than CBC (RnaG have great traditional music from throughout the Gaelic-speaking world).

I actually tried to listen to Bloomberg Radio via Sirius XM, expecting something on a higher intellectual level than most talk radio. I was treated to discussion of how much money some Arab petro-tyrant had, followed by ads for US liquor stores and Navage, of all things.

I had to switch it off when told that a satisfied customer had written "Sir, I've been a mouth-breather all my life..."

/I'm considering cancelling Sirius. I can listen to the Grateful Dead on YM.

Podcasts.  Unfortunately since the pandemic I don't drive nearly as much so I'm about 10 months behind on my playlist.  I haven't listened to car radio in well over a decade.  Aren't they all just Spanish language or right wing talk radio stations now?
