A trailer so annoying it almost makes ads for Fleishman's in Trouble watchable.

Almost

This was a good movie idea when it was called Love, actually.

Which is, actually, an adorable bit of holiday film.

It's a comedy. The measure isn't whether it's derivative or trite. The measure is whether it made me laugh. And it did. A lot. It's very much a Jonah Hill movie, a throwback to mid-2000s McKay/Apatow comedies. To me, that doesn't make it derivative, it makes it good. Should've come out in theaters.

Superbad remains to this day one of the best teen sex comedies of all time.  Of course, he's mostly just playing himself in that movie, as was Michael Cera,

I really liked the supporting performances.  Eddie Murphy was playing it relatively straight but still managed to be funny, and David Duchovny's Xzibit obsession was an amusing running joke.  The only thing I found unbelievable was that Jonah Hill's character was 35 when he looked like a 50-year-old alcoholic.

I liked it. I can see people hating it by default but if you go into it as just a movie it's a decent romcom. Plus Jonah Hill clearly stands out of the way to let his funnier cast mates work. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is hilarious and Eddie is Eddie. Sam Jay is also farking hysterical and underused.

Not the funniest joke in the movie but it does remind me that there's a fantastic bit about Sunni vs. Nation of Islam that's going to go flying over the audience's heads which is unfortunate because it's great.

He was good, but Di Caprio's performance was way better.  Donnie almost seemed like one of those composite characters that were bits and pieces of 4-5 actual people involved in the scam.

I don't see the appeal of Hill, either.  It seems that anyone (cough Michael Cera cough) that hung around Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow suddenly failed upwards in the acting biz.

He's also good in Get Him To the Greek, The Watch, War Dogs and Wolf of Wall Street.

The rest you have to be either a fan of that style of comedy or the others in the movie. I have a big soft spot for 21/22 Jump Street as well.

The first Jump Street made me laugh out loud, which is rare. I also liked the social "pushback" on how things have changed since I was in HS, e.g. the bit where Tatum or Hill calls someone gay, and asks if he and some other guy are dating (cant recall exact lines), and the character says "no, they dated last year," implying that the two male characters were bisexual, and the "oldies" Tatum and Hill were out of touch.

There was a good deal of that, and I see the same beliefs ("you think being gay is bad? You're weird") in my kids' schools. Being homophobic or racist around here makes you stand out like a purple llama wearing a sombrero, kids think you're weird.

You get made fun of for being LGBT-phobic in their schools.

The movie captured that.

I watched it. It wasn't particularly funny, but it wasn't awful. It's a good background movie to watch while you're doing something else. It's a 3/10 at best.

Yeah 21 Jump in particular is pretty slick with the social commentary in what is a dumb comedy at it's most basic. I also could watch Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill do buddy comedies in pretty much anything, they play off of each other very well.

I kind of like jonah hill.  I hated him initially thinking he had to be someones kid to get work in hollywood but he was pretty good in money ball and then he was great in Maniac and was pretty fun in don't look up.  he's good at playing the character as written.

Not going to win any awards but I enjoyed it. I do think it was a missed opportunity with the barber scene. Every other character should have been Eddie Murphy and/or Arsenio Hall.

I still haven't seen Moneyball and probably won't but he's a powerhouse in Maniac (Everyone in it killed). Probably the best thing he's done acting wise. Such a weird fun show.

Moneyball is excellent, Brad Pitt is really good in it as well, and it doesn't really require a lot of baseball knowledge. Just a well paced, well written movie.

It was a great movie if you like cringe. I have a 15 year old son who says "cringe" about 50 times a day so it may be played out by now, but I did not enjoy it at all.

I found the opening credits to be annoying; black background with flashing white letters was uncomfortable to watch, just like the movie. I guess they were perfect.

I kept thinking, how in the hell did Jonah Hill suddenly become older than Zach Galifianakis?

This was a decent comedy, that was at least trying to tell a positive story.

I watched it because I thought "What a great cast."
After 20 minutes I just thought to myself, "Am I even enjoying this?"
I just switched it off and cleaned the house, which I enjoyed more.
