A lot of big box store complexes exist in the region now, which is kind of like a mall only you have to walk outside between stores.

But lets be real... even though Vaughn isn't all that far north, you still really don't want to be casually walking around outdoors from November through April... and maybe a good hunk of May.  Malls still survive here just because you're indoors all the time.  Warm in the winter, cool in the summer.

/And COVID year round now, I guess.
