That's a shame, those were good chips.  I particularly liked the Beer Can Chicken flavor.

grew up in NE Ohio, but never had the pleasure of. looks like spamazon has a few (stupidly overpriced, grr) flavors, so I'll likely give it a shot.

There is no reason whatsoever a company that sells snack food to Americans should go out of business (buckeyes, no less).

I'm guessing the CEO mortgaged everything to buy crypto.

True.  A lot of regional brands are great.  I like Utz potato chips, and I live in MA.  The supermarket I shop at carries a bunch of different flavored Utz chips for some reason.

I mean, how long can a chip be?

I would think 12 inches because of shipping & packaging issues.

Wait, what?

How the hell have I never heard of them if they're just over in Ohio?  I guess there's just too many here in PA that they don't bother importing.

/most chipping potatoes are grown here
//yes they're special potatoes or something

The competition was too much, so they have to Lay off people.

That's good stuff. I hope they find a buyer who doesn't meddle much.

It happens. Yes, my old man had his territories ( Chatsworth and Moorpark ) , and that exact same model stepvan .
The main problem was transportation costs, as the chips / cookies / pretzels came in tins, that were returned for a deposit , that were shipped back to Pa . It would have made more sense to bulk ship the goods to California , and pack in tins ( and clean / sanitise and refill ) here , but that was not even considered.

And I really miss their ketchup and dill chips.

I've never seen them in NE Ohio and they didn't have enough of a presence that they stood out if they're in the Columbus/mid Ohio market.

Sunflower oil is in a bit of short supply globally for reasons that should be obvious, also oil shock did a number on 1H 22 inflation, so yeah for a company that was already having problems that could easily be enough headwind to do them in.

Conn's is the best Ohio based potato chip. But they're only 90 or so. Damn yoots.

Man, their zesty BBQ chips are the best. That's the one food I miss from the midwest. I've had their chips shipped out to me, but haven't in a long while because the shipping cost is more than the box of chips.

But I guess I will have to order one more box before they sell out. Off to their site.

This is true. I never liked Mike Sells, I thought they were too greasy.

Grew up on these - We never had Lays or Ruffles in the house. Shame to see it go away.
