I don't know if he is just more concussion prone/sensitive or if it was just bad luck but dude needs to cut his losses and retire from professional sports. No amount of money in your 20s makes up for not being able to tie your shoes in your 30s.

If anyone can get a concussion playing flag football, Tua is the guy.

I know a young father who, after a few concussions, now gently bumps his head and will suddenly go through massive mood swings and, the next day, won't remember what he did the prior day.

This guy is going to get old and not remember his kids growing up. Totes not worth it.

Yeah, I'm thinking there needs to be a mass retirement of players with concussion issues so we can start seeing the CTE issue clearly without the fog of "ooh ooh we cares about safety and let's do more games and throw more MONEY about the NFL has been keen on doing since the Junior Seau suicide.

Sidney Crosby was in concussion protocol in the NHL for half a season, the entire offseason, and then the first 1/4 of the next season.  Played in like 6 games and went back on the concussion protocol because the symptoms came back for another dozen games or so.  So all told he was in protocol for more than entire calendar year (January to March the following year).

It's been over a decade now and he's doing just fine and still playing.

He has already earned around $19M. He should have no need to ever work again, but could easily get a job coaching if he wanted to stay in the sport.

I really think the team (and League) mishandled him after that first "non-concussion" that resulted in his hands going full Boneitis the next time he was concussed. And then that last one a few weeks ago, nobody noticed the symptoms until later... that was, at least to me, a bad sign.

Frankly the guy probably has a pretty damn good case if he does happen to retire and wants to cash in for being mistreated.

Also hope they do some falling work with him. Some of those back of the head hits are him falling like a loose sack of potatoes instead of spreading out or rolling to reduce the impact of the head on the field.

Username checks out.

Nevertheless, I'll take an aisle seat.

All things considered even with his concussions, he was pretty middle of the pack as far as injury time out goes. With that said, it was an important time period and there are ways to minimize his risk for concussions. Anyone in the NFL can get concussions and QB's are definitely more prone to receiving them. Personally, I don't really count concussions as "injury prone", they are just a fluke thing that can happen in contact sports.

If we can minimize head injuries somehow, he should hold up fine. He didn't injure anything else this season.  He just needs to learn when to slide, throw it away and fall appropriately. Add some better protection (online and helmet)....and we're golden.
