I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it's related to the satellite launch going on at the same time.

Or it's aliens. I'll let Fark decide.

It's from the alien satellite launch.

Experts: It's not a UFO.

Me: So you know what it is?

Experts: We're not exactly sure yet.

Me: Then it's a goddamned UFO. I didn't say it was extraterrestrial alien technology; I said unidentified.

Just as long as it's not the f*king Jem'Hadar.

*sigh* That's *obviously* the wake from a Class 3 Jump Portal.
But don't worry, those handle scout-class vessels at most, so we're good!

I saw stuff like that when I was a kid in the 1960's living on the space coast. Spent rocket boosters spin and throw off gases that shine in sunlight high above your darkening sky.

Once upon a time a casual acquaintance at the pub asked me if I believed in UFOs. I said, "I believe there are things in the sky that people can't identify."

He said, "See? I knew you were a weirdo, believing in flying saucers..." and going off on a loud rant. I kept saying, "I never said 'flying saucer', I said 'can't identify'." He kept throwing a fit about flying saucers, and I kept calmly saying that's not what I said. Pretty quick, somebody next to us told him he was a dipshiat.

I'm always amazed at how stupid people can be. Like the wise man said, Genius has limits...

Hawaii is basically a military base with beautiful trees. If there were an unidentifiable object "near bye", it would be a really big deal.

They do, but Mauna Kea's about 14,000 feet high and the streets and city lights and such don't cause much light pollution.

Vernor Vinge, Fire Upon The Deep, one of the main characters is an ancient space faring trader who got stuck on a world that had just gotten up into their industrial revolution. He got the society up to the point where they had space flight and sufficient resources to make the replacement linings for his deep space drive.

Sure was beautiful.

Oh, where the hell is that web site where you can watch real-time animations of StarLink bird tracks in orbit, and you can grab the globe and rotate it fully around?  Super well done graphics.

About 2 years ago my son shouted to me one night "What's the line of moving lights in the sky???"  Had not seen satellites like that at all before.  I went inside to look it up.  I'd heard of Elmo's new shiat but didn't know it was going up en masse.

May use StarLink someday, but I do worry about all those birds they are putting up there with pretty damned short lifespans (5 yrs or so?).  It's becoming one crowded sky full of space junk.

That 100% the reverse of Musk's contribution to technology.

That tunnel was friggin' amazing.
It had access to THOUSANDS of years of human history, yet only sent our heros to Important Historical Events. What are the chances?
