""So far the system has failed," she said. "The Tate brothers, who are both U.S. citizens, have been in jail for over 30 days now without bail and without any charges filed against them.""

- System is working just fine.
- USA is AFAIK the only nation in the World that does bail.
- Not true, they've been charged. Otherwise they'd been released after 24 hours. And they keep getting extensions because the court thinks the case against them will lead to a term of a longer duration.

The Behind the Bastards podcast just finished up a four part series on this guy.  It is way more fascinating than I initially realized.

I never heard of the man until the Gretna thing, but he really, REALLY tapped into something.  What BTB pointed out was that Tate started posting his videos to TikTok and YouTube and whatever knowing he would get deplatformed.  It was intentional strategy all along.  He talks about it; how he wanted to get a ratio of maybe 7:3 people who love you and people who hate you, because it builds your notoriety.  Once you get deplatformed, the people who have been following you start posting your clips on their own, and that takes on its own life.  There are hundreds of thousands of people doing this for you, so it's impossible to block them all.

And by doing that, he actually managed to become the main trend on TikTok AFTER they deplatformed him.  His greatest success, a time when he made hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars, he had no direct presence on social media at all.  It was all angry teenage boys posting clips for him.

I hate to admit it, but for all his arrogance and apparent stupidity with the Greta Thuneberg incident, that strategy is a stroke of genius.  His "advice" is terrible, and he comes across as a complete dumb ass, but he clearly understood social media in a way no one else did.

It's fascinating stuff.  If you can keep your lunch down listening to this hateful, narcissistic prick run his mouth, the podcast is worth a listen.

If your ideological hero is hiding in Eastern Europe and then gets caught because he engaged in an online slap fight with a teen, you may want to reassess who you're listening to online.

Every now & then the Meta apps try to throw this brand of mental poison on my feed to see if I'll bite. It's gross.

That and tangling with Greta.

He understands the deep desire of your more-pathetic teen/20's boys to justify & explain their own failures & stupidity. Which is basically a universal constant present since Cain & Abel.

His notions are very appealing to a subset of selfish, impulsive, mysogynist male failures who miraculously somehow remain utterly narcissistic while lacking much or any success to be narcissistic about.

We shouldn't concede the role of father-figure to guys like Andrew Tate. There are kids out there who, for whatever reasons, don't have anyone else to look to in order to learn how to be men. It's all these open doors for snakes like Tate to slither into the lives of these young men and tell them all this nonsense bullsh*t about being a man.

He did.  There was a segment on BTB where they are playing a clip of him going on about how genetically gifted he is, that he is clearly an alpha, and how you can never be an alpha male like him if you are 5'6', 5'7".  It sounds bizarre at first; like some kind of negging or something.  You'd think he would turn off a bunch of his little twerp boy audience if he is telling them you aren't physically big enough to be successful with women, so don't bother to try.

But that isn't what he is telling them.

He actually understood that there are millions of these guys were angry, in part, because they were disillusioned by Men's Rights Advocates.  The scrawny guy who is 5'7" and can never be an alpha isn't the guy in his audience.  It's the MRA guy that the guy in his audience was listening to before, but became disillusioned with.

Tate not only understood that there are millions of angry young frustrated guys out there.  He understood their frustration was due in part to getting repeatedly conned.  He was setting himself apart from those other conmen by speaking to these dudes in a way that reached them.

And I have to say, the way he reached them is dark.  These guys are in a very scary place.  And there are a LOT of them.  I'm going to be losing a bit of sleep with that realization.

He moved to Romania specifically because he thought they were more lenient on such matters.

He fled there specifically because he thought he could skirt by without being charged with trafficking/abuse because Romania is corrupt. He's now on the other side of that fence, and it's delicious.

There's well over three hundred million people in the United States.  Six billion in the world.  How many followers does he have exactly?  Is there a count?  How many are there of the more devoted ones?  And what happens to the ones that will invariably have to go outside and deal with actual normal people?

Two months isn't perpetually, and he should have read up on the laws of the country in which he was (allegedly) committing heinous crimes. Alas, since he thinks reading unnecessary, he kind of painted himself into a corner.

It's not easy to make a living off just being a douche.  But gosh darn it, he did it!  Then he had to go screw it up by becoming criminally douchey, breaking the hearts of amateur douches everywhere.  It's a timeless story.

Sadly, being an online douche is kinda the male equivalent of a super-hot female influencer.  Making fat cash by just being a douche/super hot and posting videos of it is great work if you can get it.  But the math only works out for the very douchiest/hottest.  And of course, they'd never admit that's the reason they're so popular, but it obviously is.  The women are yoga or heath experts or some crap and the men...  hell, I don't know cuz I don't go to their instas to ogle them.

Reminds me, haven't checked in on Sjana lately...   Think I need some alone time.

At the end of the day, yeah, sure.  He was just another conman.

I guess I am just coming to terms with what he tapped into.  There is a very dark current in humanity that has been amplified by social media, which paradoxically has made life much lonelier for millions of people.  All he did was figure out how to profit handsomely from it, so yeah, big deal.  I am more interested in what he tapped into, and what effect that will have on the evolution of our culture.

Whatever it is, it is cancerous.
