We were going on an RV camping trip through southern Utah and I didn't want to bring any of my guitars along. Baggage handlers would destroy them and space was an issue as well. I started looking at acoustic/electric ukes and ended up with a nice baritone one - which I still did not trust to baggage handlers.

Technically, not another guitar so I got no grief from my wife.

Dudes... just get a gutiar.   Like, these ukelele'ers are just being stubborn to maintain that kitschy persona.

it would be like riding around on one of those old-timey bicycles where the front wheel is 10 feet tall, and the back wheels is 1 foot tall, and you have a handle-bar mustache.  Just a get a mountain bike, dudes.

I've got the Fender Jazzmaster uke like the guy in the "Will It Chug" video.  I like it, even though it's not near the Flight in price or performance. It's a fun party machine and my daily driver these days. I put a low G on mine and I like it better that way.  When I record, I run it thru Garage Band's cab emulators and it makes me smile.  Fender doesn't offer a hard case for it, which pissed me off.  It's a little long so for now I keep it in a used gig bag made for mandolins. The end of that bag is a little too long, and flops around like it needs viagra.

I also have the Epiphone Les Paul uke. It's not very impressive, but I like the look and the sound is... mmmokaay... The Jazzmaster is better.

I got a Soundsmith Jazz tenor archtop hollow-body uke, it does indeed sound great playing the jazzy chords, or, some bossa nova. Works well both acoustic and electric.

After a few years of banging away on cheesy toy ukes, I finally got this one: a "Fluke" by The Magic Fluke Company. It's accoustic but really puts out a full sound. All I need to do now is it down and get a lot better at it.

Nothing ruins a good ceilidh more than some hipster bringing out a $20 Uke that is impossible to tune and whose intonation is all over the place.

Yeh well at least they're not hipster and poseur enough to try and use the word ceilidh on an American message board

There were baritones on the site. On the right; see under Size.

Same tuning as a tenor guitar (top 4 strings D G B E.)
