I weep for the children of Florida.  These schools are in danger of losing their national accreditation.  Without that, a degree from a Florida college or university will be about as useful as a degree from Drump U., but those will be the only schools they can get into with their New and Improved high school curriculum.

The Boomers must be so proud.  Of themselves.

So you're going to have a state with a populace in one of two demographics: constantly driving into the tunnel of light they don't realize is a farmers market, and; has so many Trump flags on his coal-rolling Ram 3500 he can't get enough speed up to jump it over the crocodile pond no matter how much krokodil he takes.

And, those people are going to be served by a medical infrastructure made up of people who got their degrees in Biblical Humour Adjustment with a minor in Adequate Phlogiston in Textbooks for a Real Good Fire from Florida Jesus State University & Tilt-a-Whirl Assembly College.

Blaming just Baby Boomers for DeSantis and his fascist brethren only divides those of us who oppose racism and authoritarianism. Those born after 1964 became voters in 1992.. Millennials and Generation X combined have outnumbered Baby Boomers by tens of millions for years.

We who oppose the rise of authoritarianism in our Nation need to come together. Blaming an entire demographic for something some of its members are or enabled is counterproductive.

So, is your point simply a mistake, prejudice, lack of thoughtfulness or deliberate?

When old assholes stop voting for fascists we will stop talking about how we keep getting fascists because old assholes are voting them into office. This isn't a "we hate Boomers so we blame them for what's happening" situation, it's a "Boomers are responsible for this shiat and we're calling them out on it" situation.

Sure, there are more younger people now. If you want opponents of authoritarians to come together, then you need the Democratic Party to stop being antagonistic to younger people's needs and start earning their votes. Otherwise Boomers will continue to run the show, because there's almost no one fighting against fascism in the Democratic Party. Hell, DeSantis' opponent was a farking Republican running as a Democrat.

It's kind of funny, once you're past the nausea. Yeah, the accusations *are* telling you something is wrong there. Sit with that for a minute, Marky Bark, let it soak in. Really marinate in that for a good long while.

Imagine being a gay black kid just starting your second semester at that school.  You barely have a handle on being at college in general, and now you find out the school is providing cover for any kind of harassment, persecution, even violence that comes your way for the next 3+ years.  Do you dig in and tough it out, or run for your life.  That's an awesome decision to have to make at 18.

I was born in 1959.  For almost 64 years, I have watched the boomers destroy almost everything they touched.  They are, in general, selfish, thoughtless, selfish, proudly ignorant, selfish, and selfish.  These dipshiats who, danced for the planet in their teens, are now gleefully trying to flush iat all down the drain

YMMV, but those are my opinions, borne from years of trying to clean up their shiat.  I am glad they're voluntarily concentrating themselves in Florida, but I do weep for the children trying to grow up in that self-centered, willfully ignorant, hateful and spiteful environment.

There's no point in going to a different part of the Florida system, and most are probably paying in-state tuition. Not to mention that the unusual system makes a transfer tricky.

It's a good little school and it's sad to see it get farked like this, but it isn't exactly the kind of place where everyone can just pick up their trust funds and fark off to California on a semester's notice.

That said, I would imagine they're going to find it harder to attract good students once the conversion therapy really takes hold.

So, their clever plan is to overhaul their schools in the same way that they've overhauled local government and their ability to respond to emergencies? Man, losing accreditation is a heckuva way to make a point, but hey, I'm sure that neighboring states' schools will be happy to take the overflow of students who might want actual careers.

I mean, we get it. Y'all are upset that your entire economy is based on trade with OTHER states and tourism, and y'all are beholden to the Fed for a lot of stuff, and this is a way to 'take back' a bit of control, but have y'all ever considered that maybe, just maybe, that systems were in place for a reason?

Y'all fear that immigrants are going to sully your sweet shores, with their funny ideas, but y'all have been inviting them to come on down since air conditioning made the state livable. Remember the sh*thole you were before that? Just mangroves and swamp, with stretches of fishing and swaths of land no one wanted to touch. Immigrants built your state, from other countries and other states. Heck, it took a Harvard scientist to show how to make stone crabs edible. You hate the Outside, yet, your entire real estate market is based around luring seniors and developers in for short term investment--either by pump and dump or just dying in their own condos because they're old--so you NEED new blood coming in all the time.

You want the alienated and xenophobic, and the dumb ass racist votes. We get that. They are a valuable resource in that they are reliable for gleaning every last sweet red cent from them, and maybe even going out to steal a bit more to give you them too. But there is only so far that investing in idiocy can go. At some point, you will have to actually govern and lead, and if you're leading a bunch of morons who can't keep their drawers up, then how in the heck are you supposed to face actual educated people with actual experience in markets that aren't heavily protected?

You want to live in a fishbowl. It's scary out there. But then again, your population keeps DYING because you want to recruit the most disposable of populations, then you need to replace them from somewhere. I mean, if you want to keep hiring folks from outside to do the hard stuff, we'll take your money, but at some point you might want to look to your own futures, beyond just ripping off the dumb asses and painfully gullible ignoramuses.

Those saying these schools will risk losing accreditation, don't count on it. Their model, Hillsdale College, is accredited. They'll form shop if they have to. And don't be surprised if they pull a Rand Paul and make their own accreditation body (with blackjack and hookers) if it goes sideways.

I know people who attended New College. There's nothing "conservative" about it. The curriculum and style of teaching were deliberately different and trying to be new and progressive, and I don't mean pronouns and gender studies.

If you're going to change that just shut the university down and send the kids to a normal university like UCF or USF; it will no longer have any reason to exist.

Beat feet, obviously, right?  Where to?  With what money?  To what job?  Is the kid supposed to easily decide that it is better to be *homeless* and give up their college education, at least in the short term, than attempt to endure abuse?
