This should have happened at least a few years ago.  There's no reason to have a real person on your magazine cover any longer when you can have a fake one for less money and hassle.  Replace an entire photo shoot with two or three graphic artists and some computers.  Why not?

They'd certainly be more human, and interesting, than any model.

Tell me you don't work in media without telling me you don't work in media.

There is a reason that celebrities -- real people -- are on the covers of magazines and newspapers. They sell more papers that way.

As an example, either the Boston Globe or Boston Herald (I forget) once found out that they sold more issues whenever one famous Red Sox player (I forgot who) was on the cover. So, guess what? They put stuff about him on the cover more often.

People are foolish enough to buy the supplements, face cream and all the other garbage that goes along with the airbrushed photos of models. Why not AI. Make it even more difficult to attain that "perfection" and you'll sell even more face cream.
It's like heroin addiction without the downside, you'll always be chasing the youth dragon. It's designed that way.
