F********ck that was a close one.
I was so concerned that I hadn't heard a new bullsh*t phrase negatively spinning the logical response to employee abuse yet today and my heart was sinking as the seconds passed.

I've had more bosses that made a job miserable, than jobs that were miserable. Employees have no rights in this country, and half the population thinks that's totally okay.

What causes resenteeism?

knowing you can't find anything else better out there.

I ran a factory overnight through the pandemic, labor shortage and supply chain issues.  Needless to say, it was stressful.  The things that annoyed me the most though, were the problems where I realized there was no reason for other than my superiors not doing their jobs.

It's one thing when you're dealing with a problem and you can say "well, there's really nothing that can be done about this."  It's another thing when you have to ask someone "why are you doing this to me?".

Some of these people in management strike me as particularly stupid.

Yeah, as someone who spent years in management, I can say you have to be stupid or somewhat crazy to want to go into management.  The idiots don't realize or understand the stress and heartache that comes with playing that role, the somewhat crazy crowd falls into two categories, most just don't give a fark about their workers, I was the other category, got talked into the job because I didn't want my superiors to bring in someone who would crack the whip even harder on my workers.

Stop inventing new words to pretend you discovered absolutely normal everyday shiat everyone already knew about.

If you pretend to pay them, they'll pretend to work.

I think it usually has to do with being golfing buddies, someone they want to impress so you want to have sex with them, or not being a member of a hated minority.

Me, I'm currently pacing my way through the final few months at a job where my department manager focuses on providing a great environment for him and his managers (all three have development scheduled for a day and a half of the week) and has made it clear I am not permitted to apply for positions in other departments. I've also gotten advance notice that he'll be setting my merit increase to 0.0% for the second year in a row.

Mind you, my project completion rate is 4x the other staff in my band, including a host of automation and forecasting work which nobody else in the company can do.

Generally, not a bad company for most people and could have been an okay job for me. But flat pay and a job description they make up daily?

Last company was worse though. The "nobody is allowed to steal my employees" VP collaborated with my Director to re-purpose the progression budget aligned to me to her mentee, who also worked for her, because social incest was totally cool at that company.

As far as I'm concerned, all companies are shiat. So when it's time to get paid more I'll find another job and expect identical treatment.

Next time though I'll focus on being friendly and incompetent, since you can be friendly, but being competent is threatening and makes you unlikeable to the people you out-perform.

I had a job I hated. One day I noticed I had been there for 90 days and the thought of going another 90 days filled me with dread.

Funny enough, my boss's boss called both of us into a meeting. It seems I was 5 minutes late clocking into work 70 of the 90 days, and the director asked me why, I said no one ever said anything to me so I didn't think it was a big deal. Well IT WAS a big deal and the director got all loud and puffy. He asked WHAT can he DO to make me take this job SERIOUSLY?!

I said you can pay me more money. The look on his face was priceless, my boss started laughing and I said I was serious. Pay me more money and I'll take my job seriously. The director was shocked and told me to leave and clock in on time but I wasn't fired.

So I quit. Fark that place

I have had jobs where on day 1 I was looking for a new job, most of the time it is not the work it is just the horrible people, culture and leadership. This one place kept on trying to hire me by low balling pay, yeah that will work, and the posting for that job would only disappear for a month or so before it was up again.

There's just an awful amount of entitlement among management. Particularly, it seems, among management that has never trained in anything else.

You don't owe your employer anything they don't earn.

Had a fellow employee at Harris, 29yrs of experience, absolutely the most miserable guy I ever met. Perfection.

I was talked into managing retail by a DM friend who couldn't find anyone else willing to do it and he was desperate. I did learn a lot & believe it or not, when you treat employees like human beings they actually do a good job!

That was decades ago & now I'm stuck working for a medical conglomerate that's in the process of paying out $42 mil. for shorting their employee's pay. At my age & with no degrees, there's not a whole lot of opportunities out there.

Just another side effect of our healthcare system. You can't risk quitting.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to resenteeism.  Resenteeism leads to quiet quitting.  Quiet quitting leads to quiet hiring.  Quiet hiring leads to the Dark Side.

Yeah, funny thing, for some reason I was beating every other manager in terms of OEE and labor variance.  There was only one that even made it a competition and I was doing it from the nightshift with a fraction of the external resources.

See, that's just bad management.  I get it, it sucks losing a good worker... but it gives all of your other workers incentive to work harder and it gives you allies in other departments which is useful down the line.
