If you have a new unicorn project, this is a bargain time to get talent. Or at least the leftovers.

Maybe form a tech company?

If so, then they're gonna have to go to the FOH, because I don't have time to train them right now.

Nah, we get teachers who are more than suited to deal with grown-ups who act like problem children.

Trades. You can't outsource an electrician to a cubical farm in Hyderabad.

I seriously doubt that a tech layoff is going to have an impact on the number of hot waitresses

Their tech bro sugar daddies became worthless. They need to hit the market for fresh meat.

/am I doing this misogyny thing right?

Seriously though, do you know how many pseudo tech people worked at these companies? Marketing and Social Media types? Lots. They were impacted too. It's not all programmers. And by the way, I've met attractive programmers, both male and female. It is possible to be smart and also take pride in one's appearance.

My mom tells me I'm handsome and I work in tech.

Anyway, there was post in /r/programmerhumor with the lady recording her day doing going to the gym, sipping fancy teas and coffees, and eating fancy salads at Google (and not really working clearly) and then getting laid off in the next video. It didn't help argue against the index.

If you are good looking enough you'll bag a guy that will hire someone to cook. Sure, he might be 60 and creepy but hey you don't smell like garlic.

You apparently can't do it in tech either. The actual good ones end up here and I wouldn't be surprised if trade jobs are at risk someday if the bullshiat visa abuse.

Other people looking for jobs who want to understand their competition in the labor market? Creditors who want to make sure their loans are repaid? Business owners that need staff?

I remember working for a .com back in the day and there were lots of good looking gals running around who didn't know anything about technology and really didn't seem to have the intellect for it*. I was fortunate to jump ship but the whole thing eventually blew up and everyone lost their jobs. This was before LinkedIn and whatnot but I've often wondered where everyone ended up. Probably not waiting tables at Denny's but I'm sure a lot of those careers peaked in the year 2000.

* and to be fair, there were plenty of guys working there that didn't have the intellect for it either.

Yes, I realize that is possible to be smart and attractive. Also, Marines don't really eat crayons, Taco Bell doesn't cause dysentery, and Helen Keller didn't fly across the Atlantic to escape the Nazis. Thank you, Capt Akshually.
