I still feel pretty secure - mostly because I have a security camera pointed at my security camera.

To me, this has been a big nothing-burger. They had to send decrypted still images to an AWS instance for displaying notifications for mobile apps. ("Motion detected: Front door. [image])

No, they didn't have to do that. Also, they said they weren't doing that but lied about it. Also, they were doing a lot more than that and also lying about that.

Blue Iris and a separate VLAN with "drop all" on inbound and outbound WAN packets. Sorry little cam, you can't phone home to China. I will somehow survive not being able to chat with the UPS guy through my phone. Blue Iris will let me know he stopped by.

And if Anker shuts down its servers (for economic reasons) you now own Security Bricks?

that's why anker is/was worth a small premium over all the rando amazon brands that look like they were named by a bad password generator.

I was given a lemon of an Anker charger as a gift once, and their dumbass customer support staff couldn't figure out why anyone would want a refund. I avoid their products completely now.

* Note: There are many levels of truth involved. One, lower level of truth has been unlocked.
