Well, he is a pro.

Everyone else is injured or in the Super Bowl.

This "game" should have been phased out a long, long time ago.

Also... move the superbowl game to Saturday night or 3pm on Sunday.

When even NFL players are laughing about something this absurd, you know it's bad.

Put the Pro Bowl back to the week after the Super Bowl, move it back to Hawaii every year, make it a reward for the players chosen to have a free week in Hawaii and more people will actually want to go.

Or just cancel the damn thing altogether, it's unwatchable.

is it even a game? I thought they changed it to be flag football and skills games

Not a game anymore.  Bunch of weird events and skills tests, like a Punt Pass and Kick for professionals.

Tyler Huntley,Pro Bowler, diminishes the title of Pro Bowler immensely.  Probably good for him if he had an incentive in his contract.

Potential of injury isn't worth free week in Hawaii in 2023.  It was in 1983.

It's like the year a goon went to the NHL all star game, while barely holding onto his roster spot.

Just turn it into the ESPYs, already.  Do a big awards show a few weeks after the Super Bowl, call the award something stupid, hire some doofy former athlete type to host (someone like John Cena or Peyton Manning would be ideal), hand out awards to positions like Punter and Strong Safety in advance, and hand out the Pro Bowlies for the big name guys on television.  Heck, you can even include awards for Rookie of the Year, OPOY, DPOY, MVP, and Man of the Year in the telecast.

No one gets hurt, players can participate via remote video if they're unable to attend, guys can market themselves and their brands through interviews and acceptance speeches, and ESPN gets enough football material to jabber about until the NFL Draft happens.

I think all the players remember that one guy who suffered a career ending knee injury playing beach volleyball.

I am surprised that the teams have not put clauses in the player contracts that prevent them from participating in certain events. I would expect to see them added to the guaranteed contracts that are now being given to the quarterbacks.

/see MLB and anti skiing etc clauses
//also see the hypocrisy in the NHL for being against the Olympics vs for the World Cup (and who gets what money from the events)

Strongest safety, freest safety, tightest end, best trick play, best costume uniform design, outstanding flop...
But seriously, you could do awards for outstanding individual plays/games, too. Even the uniform design could be awarded to the designer (off to the side) like costume design. Hell, espn posts enough articles about uniforms and shoes enough to make it seem relevant.

Having formatting troubles, I had two different comments so bear with me:

The beach game was beach flag football, not volleyball.  Robert Edwards' career didn't end, but he was never the same player.

As to the second point:  In the late 70's/early 80's, ABC used to run a competition called The Superstars where athletes from various sports would compete against each other and was quite successful.  So much that they started a spinoff called the Superteams; which pitted the World Series participants against each other and then the Super Bowl participants; with the winners meeting the following week.  Except that Steinbrenner prohibited the Yankees from participating; so the Royals repeatedly ended up representing the baseball side.

I can see it now.  Huntley insisting that his contract include a significant bonus clause if he makes the Pro Bowl and the Ravens readily agreeing figuring like their backup QB is really going to make the Pro Bowl.

Politics have no place in sports. I demand an investigation as to why George Santos wasn't selected. He threw for 72 touchdowns this year and was the leading rusher for four different teams AND was head cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys.
