in China, the firemen are as corrupt as the cops. i have seen it with my own eyes. they threatened my friends business if he did not provide stuff for a cook out.

There are a lot of arsehole firemen, but each should be judged on the content of his character.

Ehh on average they're better but I know of a few fire departments who gladly turned hoses on peaceful protestors at the behest of cops over the past few years.

The linked article shows the "victim" to be the former fire chief, his fireman son, and implicates a veritable crime ring of area fire chiefs and a secretary.

FTFA: Dispatchers say Thomas "Tommy" Perry's home caught on fire around 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chapmanville, Henlawson and Lake Volunteer Fire Departments were on the scene.

The fire departments were on the scene when the home caught fire around 12:30? Makes sense, all things considered.
