(Twitter)   After over 50 years of production, Boeing delivers the very last 747 today at 4pm EST (1PM PST). From now on you will only fly on twin engine planes, but you don't have to like it   (twitter.com) divider line

The A380 is still flying subby, and I'm pretty sure it has four engines.

/Have flown Emirates to Dubai in one.

A380 is also out of production

The only 4 engine still "in production" is the Ilyushin Il-96 which hasn't built a new unit since 2017 but they claim is still in active production

Not only is the A380 out of production, but they will all be rotting in the boneyards long before the last 747 stops flying.  Boeing hit a home run with a cargo aircraft that turned out to be ideal for people too.

Thanks to the Russians, six engine planes are also a thing of folklore now too

The A380 would still be in production if everyone had been using the same design program at the start. They had to scrap the cargo version when they discovered wiring plans were messed up.

Seventeen A380s have been scrapped already, and about half the total production is parked or stored.  Other than Emirates, most of the other operators don't have a way to full utilize an A380's capacity.  Emirates owns about half of all A380s produced.

Due to its design, there is no way to make an A380 into a cargo aircraft, so it has no secondary market.

Nice touch having the last flags be Pan Am (first customer) and Atlas (final customer).

"From now on you will only fly on twin engine planes, but you don't have to like it"

Until we get to those electric planes with five or ten propellors on each wing.

Better get on board soon.  Only Lufthansa, Korean, and Air China fly the 747-8.  The 747-400 is rare in passenger service these days.

Just get elected POTUS. The new 747s will be flying for another twenty years.

Flew on 747s several times on Asiana in the late 90s. Amazing birds. Got bumped upstairs from Seoul to Manila once also
