Will he go to his laboratory now he's done playing?

Then: You go, we go

Now: He gone

And to think he almost didn't re-sign with the Cubs in 2016. Something about another team missing a deadline on a physical or something? It's a bit fuzzy now.

I will always remember his hurdle over Chase Utley in the 2009 playoffs.

Really hated when the Rox got rid of him*.

* The list of personnel moves the Rox made I hate is very, very long.

Agreed.
To be fair though; he only played in St. Louis for like 2 years of that 4 year deal...injuries piled up.

The post-2016 Cubs thought they could get away with not having a lead-off hitter much in the same way that the recent iterations of the Bulls think they can get away with not having a point-guard.

Joining St. Louis improved my opinion of him. He was overpaid based on his performance with the Cubs and got their arch-rivals to pick up the check. That's the dream, right? I'm lookin' at you, Willson Contreras.

I know he only played for the Cubs for two years, but he's one of my favorite players.  I was so happy when he came out onto the field during spring training and surprised his own teammates with his resigning.  Only dude to homer leading off the 7th game of the World Series.  (My brother was at that game, lucky little shiat).

Thank you, Dexter, for making three generations of my family happy that year.
