I found a cockatiel in the back yard once. My dad gave it to the neighbors who chainsmoked.  Poor thing only lasted six months.

I thought it was the cock found in the earlier article.

A Raleigh family is thankful for the safe return of their lost and now found cherished pet, an affectionate and very social cockatiel named Pearl.

A cat named Hercules last seen planning its next move...

Don't apologise when you stutter subby. It's not something that you should feel sorry for.

My kid used to have a huge cock, that he loved, but a coyote ate it.

My had a cockatiel and a hyacinth macaw when I was growing up. My mom taught them both to say "Here kitty, kitty." We had three cats that would play nicely with the birds.

Thank you for attending my PET Talk.

We got ours reverse style when I was growing up. Parents had friends over for a cookout and we're on the back porch grilling away and see this pretty bird fly onto our neighbor's porch. About an hour later, the father knocks on our door: they went to start their grilling and the bird flew in their house, perched on the wife's shoulder and made himself at home. They knew dad liked birds and asked if he wanted it. Freebird (my 7 year old brother named him) was a very pretty cockatoo that lived with us for about 8 years. That guy loved to talk and sing.

Cockatiel...cockatoo...whatever.  I grew up thinking it was the latter, and it still sticks.

/not enough slashies for euphemisms
//I really did like that bird
///beautiful plumage, though no pining for fjords

Years ago one of my tiels escaped - I think it was around March, so it wasn't very warm and I didn't know if she was going to survive. I placed a "lost pet" ad in the local paper, and days later got a call from someone who had found her. She was on the yellow line at the edge of the road about 30km or so from home. He recognized that she wasn't a wild bird, stopped and picked her up and then stopped to pick up bird food and a cage. He said she fell asleep immediately on his car seat and slept the whole way home.

When he went to work on Monday, he was telling his coworkers about how he'd found this bird, and it was obviously somebody's pet because she was so friendly and wanted to hang out on his shoulder all of the time. One of the coworkers just happened to see the local paper with my ad and he realized it was likely the same bird. Thankfully he called me instead of keeping her, so I was able to go over and pick her up the same day (yes, it was definitely her).

/stopped at a nice-looking restaurant on the way to his place and bought a gift certificate for an amount that would cover dinner for two, as a thank you to him and his wife. When I gave it to him, it turns out that was his favourite restaurant. Just one of those cool feel-good stories that sometimes actually happen

He would get out of his cage at times when we were feeding/cleaning/etc and would flutter around and land on us and sit and watch. It was great.

Technically it was theirs or a friend's who said they could have it, but I feel bad about catching it honestly.

All birds are my favorite birds. My aunt did rehab on a bluejay chick which lived a good long time even after being released. It would come back and visit sometimes. and I helped so I hop that balances the scales.

When I was a kid, our cockatiel was my dad's best friend.  Whenever he decided he wanted out in the house that was where he was.

Other than the 3 times he sparrowed the picture window.  I think the 3rd time clued him in that it wasn't the path to freedom.

I've never eaten cockatiel but I've swallowed a cockatoo.
