(Twitter)   Damian Lillard scored 42 points and had no turnovers. Dejounte Murray scored 40 points and also had no turnovers. This is the first dueling 40-point, 0-turnover game in the NBA history   (twitter.com) divider line

Thank you machine learning for creating fake-ass hype whenever possible by ferreting out every single possibility of some arcane new occurrence.

That's a statistic.

I'd be very interested in a game where two players each had 40 turnovers and 0 points.

Truthfully, if they really wanted to make clickbait it would have been "Dame and Murray do something Lebron James/Michael Jordan (depending on the average age of the reader) never did!"

Halfway to zero points? How do divide by zero?

Is Dame too old to hope for a better team?   He's probably my favorite non-Cavs player and his only chance for a ring is to leave Portland, and everyone there knows it.   That blowout loss in the WCF a couple years ago was the last hope.   Clyde  couldn't do it, Damian can't do it.   The struck gold that one season with Walton and that's it.   He doesn't seem like the type to pull a LeBron and jump to a super team.

Yeah, he's too old and too loyal. It's a damn shame but he won't make it back to the Conference Finals in Portland

Yes, that never happened in sports reporting before machine learning, which BTW was invented on the same day that a left-handed NL West catcher batting 6th got hit by pitches with 2 men on in the 5th inning in both games of a day-night doubleheader (the AL record was set back in 1925).

He prizes his loyalty to his city and team above all else.  There's something to be said for that.  There are artists, musicians who barely get by, but do it because they enjoy it.  I think Dame is like that, has no need to go chasing a championship to feel complete.

For every LeBron, there's 10 guys who jumped and got nothing.  Karl Malone, Gary Payton,

Just read an article yesterday about this.

there has to be a game in 2016-17 featuring Westbrook and Harden that comes close.   Those two have the two worst seasons ever for turnovers, and it is that season for both.

This could be the game.   The teams met on Dec 9, 2016 and both players had 8 TOs.

Anyway, it's gotta be a game between these two.   The only other player cracking the top-10 is McGinniss in the ABA.

I guess.  I can respect the loyalty to fans and the city itself, but it just seems weird to me that such a competitive person wouldn't want a better opportunity to win it all.  It's just not happening in Portland.  I'm sure most of the fans would love him to go somewhere to get that opportunity.  And seeing as ownership across all sports doesn't care about loyalty to players themselves when in pursuit of a championship (or saving money), then I have no problem with players doing the same.  He''ll be beloved in Portland for the rest of his life regardless, so why not?

Not sure how fans would react there, but Cavs fans are still divided about LeBron and he will always have haters here.   If he didn't come back and bring a Championship, he would be universally reviled here, I'm pretty sure.

Yeah, I think the Lebron situation is a bit different.  Granted, I'm pretty removed from Portland and their fanbase, but my read on this is that fans know they're not winning there anytime soon and Lillard has proven his loyalty enough that they would love to just see him have an opportunity to win.  I think it would be more like Garnett going to the Celtics.  If memory serves, Minnesota fans were definitely disappointed to lose Garnett, but they understood.  Of course that was a trade though.

Okay. Be serious then. I wasn't.
And I think Westbrook, however talented, and he is very, very talented, is a guy  I'd never want on my team.
