As ex-45** should well know, if he didn't get that promise in writing or independently witnessed, it's worth no more than the paper it was printed on.

FTA: In a statement Monday night, Trump said the audio book "was an open and blatant attempt to make me look as bad as possible."

Because there is no possible way to make ex-45** look worse than combining the truth and his own words? So, he's suing for definition of character???

I'm pretty sure an experienced author like Woodward and a major publisher like Simon and Schuster would have thought of this before publishing.

More sure because TFG is ALWAYS wrong ALWAYS lying and ALWAYS loses.

I'll bet a paycheck Bob had a good lawyer, and a damn good one at that, draw up the forms TFG had to sign prior to any interviews.
And I bet the lawyer even said to make sure he signed in pen, not crayon, and have witnesses.

As predicted, the post presidency period of this shiatberg's life Wil be spent in court.

Being an embarrassment to himself.

The audio book is probably more effective than this device driving away pests.

Sounds exactly like a mistake a rookie journalist like.....uhhh...Bob Woodward would make.

I'm sure TFG will be proven right in a court of law as he so often is.

I don't even try to couch the sentiment that I wish he would die behind any kind of allusions or Mark Twain quote about eulogies. I hope with all of my heart this fat croaking piece of human filth dies soon and dies painfully. He has been a chancre on the national dialogue for too long. I can't think decently of any person that would support him either.

He wants royalties, because it's an audiobook and he was recorded for it.

Let's not get carried away.  It's been a long time since Watergate and Woodward has been on the wrong side of lots of stuff just for the sake of access.  He insists Bush Jr. didn't lie us into Iraq despite all evidence to the contrary as an example.

It's a recording of what he said. No misprints. No 'taken out of context'. No that's not what I meant. It's got the emphasis, the inflection, the meandering stupid quirks. The rambling incoherent babbling.

It's not his fault you have a nasally voice, the vocabulary of a 4th grader, and are incoherent and stupid.

I suppose this suit could be a tacit admission that the contents of the book are true.  I mean, if it was all made up nonsense intended to make him look bad, would Trump sue over the rights to publish iat in one medium instead of griping about it being publishing at all in any medium?

That's the take I'm going with - Trump admits the Woodward book is true.

Bob should sue him for hazard pay for having to listen to his inane drivel for so long.

abb3w: As ex-45** should well know, if he didn't get that promise in writing or independently witnessed, it's worth no more than the paper it was printed on.

From article:

"President Trump told Woodward numerous times that the Interviews were to be used by Woodward-and Woodward only-for the sole purpose of accurately quoting President Trump for the 'written word,' i.e., Rage, and not for any other purpose, including providing, marketing, or selling the Interviews to the public, press, or the media, in any way, shape, or form," court documents say.

This makes it sound like they could end up duking it out over proving the existence and substance of an oral contract [fark lawyers? input? This is a thing, right?] and also fighting over the definitions related to "interview".  Maybe there's already a bunch of existing precedent about what constitutes an interview itself versus what is simply quoting an interview as a part of a larger work -- i.e. beyond a literal transcript or recording of an interview, how much editing and commentary is required before it becomes something independent? I don't know how much of 'Rage' is just their conversations and how much is Woodward's commentary and context.

Also, I'm willing to bet that Trump's side is going to argue that for the audio book format, having Trump's voice depict himself has value above and beyond the words themselves, either read by someone else or in writing.  Namely, that by having Trump 'portray' himself in the audio book, listeners are actually getting the interview itself even if it is interspersed with other content.  Arguing that things like how Trump says things, not just what he says, is what makes the audio = interview, while print != interview.

Realistically, I'll bet they're banking on Woodward just settling out of court instead of haggling over all the above and him chalking it up to the cost of doing business with Trump.

2023-01-31 10:50:30 AM
Next Trump will sue everyone who listened to the audio book for royalties

2023-01-31 10:50:36 AM
"President Trump told Woodward..."  In other words, hes lying, and if its not amended in the original written contract, he'll lose, it will simply come down to TFG's word (liar) against Woodward's (respected journalist).

Underline message here, Clearly TFG needs cash!

Can we have him officially declared a Vexatious Litigant in all courts? Maybe require a large bond paid up front to cover the court fees and cost to defend against his meritless suits unless and until he can demonstrate at least reasonable grounds for filing?

As it stands, he's just wasting everyone's time because he's angry that someone shat his pants.

2023-01-31 10:52:00 AM
"Woodward decided to exploit, usurp, and capitalize upon President Trump's voice by releasing the Interview Sound Recordings of their interviews with President Trump in the form of an audiobook," the lawsuit says.

How very trumpian of him.  Good on you Woodward.  Make him pout and sweat.  File a countersuit - just for the hell of it.

I did! And it was a great listen. I laughed out loud many, many times. Woodward has this way of speaking to him that goaded Trump into saying more because Trump through Woodward was agreeing with him. Woodward's aside comments are gold.

2023-01-31 10:54:16 AM
So in the end he will probably owe another pile of cash to defense lawyers for bringing up a BS lawsuit.

Generally, if you have a written and signed contract, then prior "verbal contracts" are complete junk.

Just wish for things that would be 'accidental' or 'natural causes'. If you're feeling lucky wish for 'by misadventure'.

I hope he gets an aortic dissection and all his blood falls out into his feet.

I hope he chokes on a fishbone.

I hope he gets his stupid long tie caught in the wheels of a golf cart and it rips his head off.

I hope Donald Judas Trump is crushed by the Trump sign falling off one of his hotels.

I hope he gets MRSA under his wig.

I hope he gets that super rare weird condition that turns his blood into nerve gas and it kills him and everyone in the room with him on his birthday. Except the waiters and other staff.

Be a shame if TFG were never interviewed again for fear of being sued, but I could live with that.

If he died tomorrow, he would die an embattled ex-president fighting to be re-elected to his rightful position.  The Trump Memorial Foundation to Extend America's Greatness Again would fundraise off this for generations.  He needs do die a convicted felon.
