BizarreMan: What's a coy pond?

It's really smooth

2023-01-31 5:51:20 AM
This is sad, as it feeds into my well-repressed eat-the-rich feelings.

However, it would probably feed into my wife's fantasies of us somehow getting filthy rich* and being able to afford something like that. The guest houses would be additional free lodgings benefits for the maid and butler and their families, of course.

Except my nascent paranoia says we would need a third guesthouse for the armed/trained/professional security guard and his/her family, but she doesn't like the idea of muscle on the estate for some reason.

On, and a fourth guesthouse for the MacGyveresque hacker/computer/electronics expert and his/her family.

And a fifth on-site complex (underground of course) that houses the command center and the warehouse.

My wife doesn't know about my also-well-repressed super-villain tendencies.

..

So what are YOUR fantasies about this place?

...

* From my novel** and its movie rights, of course. No pressure!

BizarreMan: What's a coy pond?

It tends to be playfully shy.

/I spotted that right away, too.
//Mostly because my wife's family used to be in the aquarium and pond maintenance business.

I prefer modest marshes.

So how is the water situation in Scottsdale?

2023-01-31 8:41:41 AM
Foe people who enjoy banging into a sharp rock feature when you stumble into the dark bathroom at night to take a piss.

2023-01-31 8:41:46 AM
We should just take rich people's money away from them, it's the humane thing to do.

2023-01-31 8:43:32 AM
Way worse than the tiny fake water pumps in our bathrooms.

I'm still waiting to see a Zillow listing that describes a sink hole as a natural grotto.

Our cats would love that.

It is a plea to Mr. Waterfalls to stay with the singer.

"Don't go, Jason Waterfalls."

HotWingConspiracy: We should just take rich people's money away from them, it's the humane thing to do.

Someone got a lot of money to make that so it spreads around a bit.
I had a few estimates to have my poor redone.  It's about 50 years old and I wanted it deeper, new liner, coping replaced with stone, new lines and lighting and cement ripped out and all new stone.
Not estimates were in the 20 to 30k range without the stone work.  Last place I called said without even looking at pictures of my pool that $75k was his minimum to touch an existing pool and 150k for new, that he worked for rich people.
We got to talking and laughing how his work is the same as others but because he charges more they think he's better.   Truth is he shows them higher end and custom features that he massively over charges for.

2023-01-31 9:04:10 AM
Honestly it looks like the entire place would be a pain to clean.
But if you're that rich you have that job assigned to the poor to deal with.
The big "unique" selling point is the sink?
Yeh that thing is ugly and stupid.
Why do rich people have such shiatty taste?

2023-01-31 9:04:25 AM
No way you can properly clean that.

2023-01-31 9:07:12 AM
That's hideous. The novelty factor would wear off pretty quickly once you realize it would take a full minute of running water to finally get hot water to wash your hands. What's that? Oh, I forgot. Rich people don't have germs and don't need to have hot water.

You live in the desert.  Let's install a sink that wastes water.  Imagine, to get warm water to the sink, it will have to be scalding hot at the source.

If you have a pool in Arizona, the local farmers are justified in killing you. The entire Southwest US is trying to figure out a fair way to ration and conserve the waters of the Colorado River and you feel entitled to maximize the evaporation of it.

If you farm in Arizona, you should be fed to the local wildlife. The entire Southwest is trying to figure out a fair way to ration and conserve the waters of the Colorado River and you feel entitled to grow alfalfa for export to Saudi Arabia to maximize your personal wealth.

Not disagreeing with you, but that has some benefit to others. Having a pool is pure waste.

I met a guy last year who worked for a company that made farm loans in Yuma AZ. I told him that I'm a civil engineer working specifically with water and sewers in the Southeast where we get 42 inches of rain each year. He spent the entire conversation trying to figure out a way to get water from the Mississippi River to Arizona. He was obsessed with how much water just goes out to sea. I told him it would be too expensive but he was certain he could figure out a way to get it done.

Nothing is too expensive if you use Other People's Money.

I don't know, redirecting the Mississippi to Arizona might be too expensive with all the money in the world.

Hell Poodle: No way you can properly clean that.

I already imagine the amount of mold, fungus and bacteria growing in the little crevices in the rocks after a while, despite frequent regular "cleaning".

The whole thing has to be deeply bleached to be properly cleaned.
