Something about the draft this year says to me that tanking is a sucker's bet on this draft class. I get that Bedard tore up the WJC, but so did Jordan Eberle. Patrick Kane had better hands at that age, Matthews had a better shot, and NateMac was a better skater. Bedard will be good, but I don't get the excess hype around him.

Man, I used to do a boneless skinless chicken breast with some sauce and cheese for a quick dinner.  I haven't had that in a dog's age.

It's just another way to try to keep the fan bases of the crappier teams engaged instead of checking out around now once it starts becoming impossible to make the playoffs

Keeps things uncertain and exciting in some way instead of just going through the motions and playing for initial seeding (for those that make the cut) and playing for draft picks for the others

Also, not one crap team in the league who doesn't want someone of that calibre on entry contract cap hit.

He did set some serious records in world juniors too.

I also think he's overhyped but he will almost certainly be very good and a big help to any bottom 10 team

Haven't listened to the local sports radio today, but the Horvat trade is probably getting picked apart.

Side note: Matt Barzal offered Beauvillier his old bedroom when he moves to Vancouver - Barzal grew up in the suburbs here.

All of the talk of the full renovation of the team is largely wistful thinking. Luke Schenn is the only player that would have an appealing contract to teams at the deadline - anyone else would involve eating a big chunk of salary.

Looks like Vancouver is currently keeping their young prospects in the AHL for development, which isn't a bad idea, i.e. sheltering them from the current tire fire. Raty will start there rather than be with the main team.

At the very least he'll be a solid 2nd line center, and there are a lot of teams that don't have that.
