Avalanches are near impossible to outrun if you're on skis, let alone a snowmobile. Even a slow avalanche can travel at 80 MPH, and a fast one can be near the 200 MPH range.

I know there is that mountain named after the film company but I never thought of Japan as a skiing destination.
