After the way Philly fans greeted the 49er's fans this past weekend...

I would like that.

Subby, read up on ATL, aka Loserville.  Our teams choke so often, fans are required to know all the steps of the Heimlich maneuver before being sold seats below club level.

We support college teams all over the state before admitting we even have pro teams in Atlanta.

I understand, but MLS doesn't count. It might... someday.

Not now though.

Go ahead and like it all you want.

But as far as trophies go, it's like sixth-tier soccer, and the only reason it's notable is because a few owners throw out big bucks for aging stars. The WNBA has more street cred, it at least features many of the best basketball players in the world on the women's side.

They were 1-3 sometime around 1980 iirc.  And now I have to check.

1980 Phillies - W World Series
1980 Eagles - L Super Bowl
1980 Sixers - L NBA Finals
1980 Flyers - L Stanley Cup Final

So yeah, it's been done.

Not i the way you're thinking. Because chronologically, the World Series came before the Super Bowl since that's the 1980 NFL Season, meaning the 1981 Super Bowl. That makes it LLWL.

\I only remember because the Eagles went on a playoff losing streak after that, meaning their last win was 1-11-81, my brother's birth date.

Just getting that far is better than about 30 other cities... per sport.  Soak it in and remember the games that got you there, too.

(Maybe not the MLS games.  Watch those but maybe adopt a Premier League team.)

I felt good about the last two games, but the Chiefs D line is way better than I thought, and I think Andy neutralizes the Eagles' pass rush with a ton of screens.

We had it happen in New England, actually. January of 1986 the Patriots lost the Super Bowl, then my kickball team lost the big Second Grade vs. First Grade championship game that spring, and then my dad's company softball team lost the title game that summer, just before the Celtics thankfully ended our long, regional nightmare by winning the NBA title.

Brilliant idea.  MLS should be a relegated level 2 league and their 2 top teams should be promoted to... somewhere each year.  And relegated teams come to the US.  Welcome, Everton!

Gotta cry about something. Or, well, everything.

For all the hate that Philly fans get, none of the fan brawls, fires, or other violence in the news has involved them in a while.
And I don't think the ref'ing had much to do with the Eagles winning a game in which they blew out a team that could not protect their QBs.

By that measure, NWSL is just making it in....  The KC Current are building a stadium/training complex that has gotten visits from MLS and European team representatives that are interested in the design.

Baseball -no. Football - yes. Once we lost the Rams, it was a natural to go to the Chiefs. Mahomes made it easy. Team is doing well, same state. If we ever get an NFL team back (fat chance) we will go back to hating them (once Travis, Patrick, and Andy retire).

Buckner deserved so much better. It's not like the Sox automatically win if he makes the play at first. The game was tied by then.
