All can be true:

1. Anyone would have been called for that hit out of bounds. Even John Cena saw that and he's usually invisible
2. NFL's referee crews have consistently displayed incompetence and at times utter stupidity throughout this and past seasons, and more than one team can legitimately point to objectively blown calls that cost them a game. (this is not helped by the league redefining what catches and holds are every week)
3. That #2 exists is a blackmark on the game that continues to grow, souring the experience for players and fans alike
4. None of the above will get better unless either the players union withholds their labor during contract talks, or fans withhold their viewership/money.

Also: The football commentators screaming this is the worst blown call ever? I invite them to rewatch the end of the Rams-Saints NFC Championship game again and get back to me when they realize how silly they are.

Never understood why they use "all-star" refs for the playoffs.
These guys are a crew. They haven't worked together all season long.
Rather have a crew who works well together.

No, the worst blown call was in Bottlegate, and the debate is on as to whether that was claiming there was a buzz from replay when there was not, or calling the game over when it was absolutely clear in black and white in the rulebook that a ref cannot call a game over early, only the commissioner can.

I mean missed calls happen a lot but the Bottlegate fiasco takes the cake, and they have done nothing to correct the deficiencies identified in that game.

Not trolling here, I honestly don't recall which game that was.

The Chiefs were the chosen team
It looked like a Chief defensive lineman was running across the neutral zone every snap. The fix was in.
And I don't care about either team.

I got to the end of the first section and thought 'ok this has to be a Terry McAulay call.'

And wouldn't you know...

Nothing will happen unless DraftKings or MGM gets all pissy because they lost a metric crapload of money.

The refs were so confused about everything for several minutes in that game.

I thought they were maybe doing performance art at one point.  I was ready for them to start miming.

What a bunch of whiners. Sometimes you get calls, sometimes you don't. Sometimes the refs blow it. Sometimes they don't.

One thing I am sure of is it's suuuuuuper lame to go on the internet and whine about how this happens to your team in particular. Mostly because it's not true. Everyone gets their turn in the barrel. Except maybe the patriots there for a few years... but even that came to an end eventually. Just stay alive and it will work out one day.

I feel a good team should overcome all setbacks and be able to win the game  despite the refs.

Great team? Sure. Good team? 50/50. Average team is boned.

Yeah. In this instance the teams playing proved they were the best in their respective conference.

Counterpoint:

All of the teams in the conference finals are 'good'.

Just accept it. There's no possible human-designed officiating system that won't result in cries that it's not fair by the losers come Monday morning. If there ever was that chance it ended with the advent of the Internet. Tough game for humans on the to call perfectly. It would be better officiated by teams of people watching every single play/ player from the booth. We'd hate that too.
