Lots of cash and the #1 pick, the Bears are either gonna have a fantastic or a miserable offseason.

Seahawks look pretty good, top 5 draft pick and $31MM cap space. They overperformed this last season so they could be a contendah next year. 🤞

The Vikings are gonna have JJ, Kirk, and 51 guys that were last seen playing for leagues that no longer exist.

With all the cap manipulation in the NFL I find these numbers accurate and yet simultaneously meaningless. There are only a few exceptions, and we can name them because we spent all last season laughing at them and the teams that signed them. Aside from Cleveland and Denver are there really any teams that can't fix their cap situation with just a little manipulation?

The NFC West seems to be theirs for the taking.  They just need to dump money into a good run defense.

Baltimore and Cincinnati are in excellent position. Playoff teams with $50M+ in cap space. Well, Cincinnati is in excellent position, who knows what the Ravens are going to do.

NO will be fine- they save money by not having a #1 draft pick to pay.

/Ok, maybe they are a little less than fine

Cinci has one more season of their rookie QB contract, best to enjoy it now

The Ravens are (probably) going to trade their most important player but also will get a hell-of-a-haul for him. Could offset each other. If they don't trade him he'll be on a huuuuuuge contract of some kind or another

The Niners have some cap space and a lot of late picks, but given that they're in "get Tom Brady to avoid having to get Aaron Rodgers" territory, it's bad.

/RIP Brock Purdy's UCL.

The Ravens are losing a lot of guys this year.  TFA says they only have 26 holdovers.  That does give them some flexibility, which could be good, but it also means they're gonna have to manage their cap carefully.

Los Angeles Rams - in deep doo-doo except in average age of player and number of players signed.

$238,807,870
$240,231,265$-15,025,453
$241,731,265$-16,525,453

Yes and no, there are limits to what you can do with restructuring, mainly getting players to buy in.

Bills are negative, but have plans on restructuring a few big contracts for a single year because in 2024 the cap is going to explode (probably over $250M). Teams like the Saints who have already done major restructuring work, are facing a steep climb, so is TB.

TDWCom29: Cinci has one more season of their rookie QB contract, best to enjoy it now

Which means they have to act like they don't have it, because if they sign any big FA contracts for longer than a year, it'll effect how much they can offer Burrow - and given his performances over his rookie contract, he's getting Top 5 money, probably another $500M deal like Mahomes.

I'm not sure that I know what that signed number means. The other teams I looked at the signed number corresponded to the number of Signed Players under Multi Year Contracts for 2023. For the Ravens it shows 49 contracts for next season.

If he's smart he holds out for a fully-guaranteed deal like Jackson is

KC has about $12 million in cap space and 12 draft picks in 2023. Overall, the rookies they picked in this year's draft performed better than expected and some like Pacheco way exceeded expectations. They've got some financial wiggle room and draft picks to play around with, so I think they'll be fine.

That... is confusing.  Must be a glitch or something.

Obviously if the Ravens have 49 guys locked in, they can splurge a bit on the remainder.  Which is helpful for its own reasons.

Their UFA list is 22 players, bringing them down to 38, not sure where the extra 12 are coming from.

Badafuco: I'm a Dolphins fan. 😑

Almost half the teams in the league (15) are currently projected over the cap in 2023. It doesn't mean very much at this stage. Clearly the fins won't be out there giving multiple guys top of the market deals in free agency/trade like this past season. We have 44 players under contract for next season.

The Dolphins have talent so increasing the cap should allow them to keep a few of their own. That's big.  Obviously, it helps every team. I do think the Dolphins are at the stage where players may take a little less to be here too especially if Fangio is our new DC.

Lists 49 players, it does not include any of the 22 free agents (ie: Lamar is not listed in the 49 active players). I'm even more confused by Denver (picked because they have 62 active players). Denver also has an additional 22 free agents listed. Clearly salary cap math is beyond my tiny pea brain to figure out.

Was it smart though? Jackson got very injured, again, and this time it basically cost them the playoffs. I think he'll get less than he wants with how beat up he gets.

Burrow is an instant extension, I wouldn't be surprised if they got it done this year.

Not quite true, I believe. Next season will be Joe's fourth year on his rookie contract. They will (obviously) pick up the fifth year option this offseason before giving him his huge contract extension, locking him in for 2024. They don't get the big QB contract hit ($50 million?) until 2025 even if they extend him this summer.

Now they still have several pending free agents they're likely going to try to re-sign, but they should still have a decent chunk of change to spend and that's before even considering potential cap cuts (Joe Mixon being one such possibility). They're in pretty good shape for a bit longer.

I'd love to see Hurst and Perine back. Not sure about the others. Certainly won't shed any tears if Eli Apple isn't re-upped.

And with Burrow's contract coming up, if they do win it all in the next year or two, he may end up owning the whole damn franchise. "Congratulations, son, the team is yours. Katie and Troy will show you to your office."

When your team is near the top of the list - good

But they're still paying Jonnu Smith $17 million - bad

And his dead cap hit is $19 million - Jesus F*ck!

(Trent Brown is $11 million but under $2 mil if they cut him)

I believe he lead the league in comp %, and he took the Seahawks to the edge of the playoffs when people expected the Seahawks to be a 5-6 win team.

Someone will pay that for him.

I'm leaning to the "fantastic" option, because I think Proles knows what he's doing, and some team is going to get strip mined of draft choices for this year's #1 draft spot.

Carroll didn't get mentioned much for coach lf the year, but let's face it, "make the playoffs with Geno Smith" was the best coaching performance in the league.

I do think the Bears would be wise to trade down if they're set on Fields, and I certainly think Jim Irsay is the one to make a crazy deal.
