You must be new here. Welcome!

Fark is a place where we submit articles with mostly unfunny, sometimes a bit controversial, and rarely, but occasionally, clever headlines.

While I'm at it, I'll give you the full tour.

This is the Entertainment tab where we discuss things like movies, music, and politics. You'll also find the Fandom tab for geek subjects like Star Wars, gaming, and politics. To the left are the Business (stocks, politics, etc.) and STEM tabs (new discoveries, inventions, tech topics, politics etc.). For lighter reading, we have the Food tab for interesting recipes and politics, and the D'aww tab for cute pictures of puppies and politics. There's also a Main tab, which could have articles of any topic, even politics.

Unless I've missed something, I think that just about covers it. If you're ever feeling especially edgy, you can try submitting your own headlines. It doesn't even have to be a real article. It could just be a tweet!

I don't understand what's so offensive about the headline. It's a light pun about a man losing a thirty year old son. It'd be more offensive to come in here and ask "Who?", so I won't.

I don't know the dude.  While I can sympathise, this is Fark, and this is far below tame compared to how things used to be.

New-ish account, but the one I lost my login for is old enough to remember Arkieboy.  You know, back when things were fun and we laughed at the world.

Every tribe, society, nation, family, or small gathering of strangers who have been in a room together long enough to form a group identity determines its own definition of courtesy and good taste, which is often offensive to outsiders. Looking at other recent headlines (it's been a remarkably dismal few days for obit headlines), you'll see:

- Cindy Williams dead at 75? Surely you can't be serious;

- Lisa Loring, the original Wednesday Addams, had a stroke on Wednesday, hospitalized Thursday, Friday, sadly passed away Saturday. In Pace Requiescat; and

- Annie Wersching no longer timeless, passes away at age 45.

You will also likely notice "RIP" posts in those threads which are intentionally wrong. The tradition is to be a single step from correct.

This is how we do it in this place among this community. If the traditions of your own tribes are offended, consider ignoring this thread - there are many others which are likely to offend you in completely different ways.

Sorry, but, I was lurking SA in 10th Grade in 1999.

I used to crawl Goatbuster's Infamous Lair.

We printed random rotten.com images and taped them inside of school loaner textbooks because sheltered church kids (OH! THE IRONY NOW!)

We gave an Urban Agriculture lecture on the feasibility of bonsai kittens, and left cookies from poorly drawn waifu dating sims on Newgrounds on the session logs of other kids we didn't like (or, were jerks to other people without reason) and got them detention/suspension.

We signed up all of School District #2's teacher accounts to Cyberotica and got to meet a REAL FBI agent! (Where my friend told him to FARK OFF, TOOL! and demanded to know why he didn't just have both arrested after we refused his sexual advances. We never saw him again. True story.)

If FARK had an Eldritch deity, it was The Master, but, nancies whined and weeped and got rid of him, and FARK never recovered. At this point it's Reddit for people over 50.

...so, what am I to the current Internet culture? Simple. I remind you how sheltered and cowed you are into little nicely labeled boxes, too afraid to move and too programmed to stop. Fear of speaking your mind. Fear of the zeitgeist.
