I'd probably replace the Sad tag with the News tag in this case.

First to get 50 goals in a single season. Hope there's a nice new smooth surface on the frozen pond up in hockey heaven for you.

Just because he gets overly excited on those DraftKings commercials?

It had its moments.  If you're bored and can't find anything to do, it's worth a look.

Maurice Richard died years ago,
Hull was the first to score more than 50.

He was signing at a local bar awhile back and he had that picture out on the table.  Would have had him sign one if I didn't bring a few pucks.

Posted this in another now red (was green) thread.

Met him at the 2001 All-Star game in Toronto at a private event at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

He was great to be around. Friendly, making jokes ("my wife made me a millionaire - I started with $3M 🤣 )

and he was signing puck - with a gold marker - the Golden Jet after all. Like Howe who I also met there, I am sure he could still crush rocks with his hands - built like a truck.

Here's a few pics of the boys in their younger days-well before weight lifting, proper training & dietary management.

In 1998, Hull came under fire for telling The Moscow Times that the Black population in the United States was growing too fast and that "Hitler had some good ideas" but "just went a bit too far."

I needed a way to imply that he was dead, hence the pearly gate ref. But your headline is definitely more clever and fitting.

My godfather had season tickets and for awhile lived in Bobby's neighborhood in Addison, IL. Every now and then he'd drive past Bobby's house and see him sitting on the front stoop having a beer and avoiding his wife, and he'd stop for a chat.

"Golden Jet grounded" would have avoided inferring consent to the extracurricular activities.

My first NHL game, 1970-71 season. Blackhawks are in town. I'm hanging out with a friend and his uncle says let's go to the game. We get there just before face off and we were told the only thing left is in the "wheelchair section that hasn't been used. Cost $5, cheapest seats in the house, folding chairs...up against the glass next to the goal judge...Hull puts in a rebound right in front of the net.

Not too long ago my dad and I were talking about his time in Winnipeg and all the shiat the local press had to ignore or downplay.  My dad hated Bobby Hull for a lot of reasons but his biggest issue was how Hull blew all his WHA money then became little more than a hanger-on to the NHL after trashing it for so many years.

I hear ya, plus, nobody had instant access to data like we do ow.  Nobody knew 40 or 50 years ago that everybody's personal foibles would have potential to take the limelight.

My favorite Bobby Hull story: The Jets are in Birmingham playing the Bulls in the old WHA. He gets into a scrap with Jack Carlson (the one Carlson brother that wasn't in Slap Shot as a Hansen). During the fight, Carlson accidentally rips off Hull's toupee. He ended up apologizing profusely to Hull after the game.

I think the lower tolerance for the off-ice shiat is a good thing, but there is still a lot of work to do.. the Canadian junior guys that have mostly played through their NHL careers otherwise unaffected by their crimes is still a thing. The 6 or so Canadian junior guys from the more recent "incident" that are in the NHL right now are so far getting a full pass for their transgression as well...
