I didn't love the first two seasons but I'm in.

Everyone but Seven looks so old....but I suppose they are.

I haven't seen the whole show, is there an explanation why Data  looks so old. I mean I know the reason, Brent Spiner's old but he's an android, what's the in-show reason?

1. That's his brother Lore
2. I think it was addressed that Data was programmed to look like he ages naturally, but I don't remember if it was in a movie or a TNG episode (I also could be wrong)

I am not going to watch any previews. I will watch the show. The very ending with Captain Riker and the fleet of 7857456534747353 ships makes me afraid of season 3. Very afraid. But in space no one will hear my screams.

Holy hell the Titan-A (and WTF with the "-A"?) is a fugly ship. Those chunky non-streamlined nacelles, the weird thick almost brutalist neck, the extra bolted-on impulse engines, the bulging hull around an undersized deflector, the hacked-up saucer. It's all a huge mess. The kitbashes they blew up for Wolf 359 were better looking.

If they wanted a Titan, they should have just used Riker's old ship. At least as illustrated in ST:LD, it's as very good-looking vessel.

Well, it seems my family just started getting Paramount+, so I just might start watching 1 or 2 of these newer Star Trek shows... if I can get off the computer long enough to do so while I'm at home.

Looks great, but so did the preview for S2.  I thought Q was going to be great, but yeah.

Looks like they jettisoned the lame cast around him except for Nervous Nellie and 7.  But having the main cast mostly back will only go so far, you have to have at least a mediocre script which they can elevate.

Okay, THIS is the thread to Festivus rant.

Loved Picard Season One with its world-building post-Nemesis. Had a little trouble with the cut-and-paste graphics at the end.

Hated Picard Season Two for nuking the world-building and potential La Sirena Adventures so that Sir Patrick could have his fanfic.

Season Three... it's got potential, but seeing they got Q in Season Two, I have a feeling they wanted a redo of "All Good Things" the last two seasons because "Nemesis" bombed.

So, we get Jean-Baptiste Zorn with a Vorlon cruiser. Okay.

/watches while waiting for Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds and, oddly, Discovery

Justice would be the final episode of Picard S3 ending with Michael Burnham (who was playing the cook on the Enterprise F) turning off the holodeck program, rendering the entire disaster that's been ST:P a pointless fiction.

Never forget "These are the voyages".

Jaws_Victim: Looking forward to red letter media annihilating this with the force of a billion exploding romulan suns.

I wouldn't hold out hope on that. They might do it simply to get views, but modern Star Trek really has pretty much killed Mike and Rich's love of the franchise. Watch the Picard S2 reviews and it's watching a grown man grow to hate the thing he grew up with, where he can't even enjoy the old stuff because he knows that this is where it goes eventually.

Even if they don't film that. It can still happen. After the credits. Like Newhart. In your mind. In your universe, it did happen.

Lower Decks Crisis Point Holodeck Program. Renders the Attack on Mars and everything forward as Mariner/Boimler fanfic.

Function over fashion?

I mean, as the borg have demonstrated, you really don't need streamlined if you aren't zipping around in an atmosphere.

First of all, Picard is dead. That thing is a duplicate with his memories.

Secondly, what/which timeline is canon? The Borg queen is on earth now, 7 of 9 is the President, but I also remember them leaving Dr Mexican in the past. I have no idea what is going on.

Doesn't matter, because this isn't the Prime Universe, or the Mirror Universe, even the Kelvin Universe. It's the Asshole Universe, which is a spin-off from the Starfleet Battles Universe. A universe where everyone's a self-centered douchebag, even the androids, and where purple Klingons eat people, Spock has a human sister who is better than he is at everything and is loved by Sarek the most, Picard's mother didn't live to be old and instead committed suicide due to mental illness when he was a boy, Picard never fell in love in his entire life because he was too afraid of displaying emotions or making commitments because of his mother's death, the Federation became cold and xenophobic after a few rogue androids blew up a colony on Mars, everyone drops F-bombs because it's the cool thing to do, and because of time travel shenanigans the Borg are good guys and the queen is a lady from Picard's time who-- despite committing a murder or two while still human-- is a "good person" who taught the Borg to give up forced assimilation.

Oh, and Khan didn't leave Earth in the 1990s, the Eugenics Wars and World War III didn't start until the late 21st century, and Guinan (who remembers everything ) apparently never met Picard or Data in the 1800s due to  the previous time travel shenanigans seen in TNG and totally didn't recognize him or like him when he showed up in the 2020s.

And Picard is dead and replaced by a positronic android with all his memories that will age and die "naturally."

As usual the nostalgia bait is effective. But this has all the hallmarks that made the previous two seasons complete groan-fests.

Yes, I'm going to watch it, because I have to know. But I already sort of know.

Yeah - same as far as I am not going to discount your views. You don't have to like what I like. It was just, especially in case of season 2, a well-timed dose of positivity, which if I'm being honest is exactly what I hope for in Season 3.

I rather enjoyed a lot of Season 1. I enjoy Chabon's writing in general, and his fingerprints were everywhere. That was fun. I'm not sure why it went off the rails, but my guess would be Akiva Goldsman/Alex Kurtzman. Their fingerprints were everywhere, as well.

Season 2 ... I liked the first 2 or 3 episodes well enough, but once it got mired in Picard's childhood trauma... eh. The setups were interesting, broadly. The payoffs left me feeling ill.

Two things Trek needs to stop doing: 1) Spiner playing an ancestor or descendent of Dr. Soong, and 2) time travel.
