Their doomsday boner is giving them blue balls and they don't know what to do about it since it's not legal to hunt liberals yet.

These volks are not really living in the moment, are they?  Doom and gloom with them and that's about it.  Everything just sucks so who cares? No baking cookies or 'Q'in' burgers for the big games today.  Just gonna wheel out The Big Cross and go whine at Jebus in public...

But we should, there's a hell of a lot of them and we need to know what they're planning to do next.

There is an apocalypse coming. The old GOP farts are dying off, and there aren't enough new converts being collected. That's why everything they try to pull has a frantic urgency to it.

These people are always like this. There's a whole WIki about the end times that didn't. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events

There's been at least one failed prediction every year of this century so far.

You get one, assholes

The closest call we had--a farking viral pandemic--and they literally refused to believe it was real, so what they believe is immaterial at this point.

Literally the people most likely to die, statistically, have now been the ones who think they're most prepared for it and are convinced they know more than everyone else.  I suspect it's because they're so incredibly susceptible to brainwashing that the only way they can envision an apocalypse is if it resembles the last few decades of "apocalypse media," which paints The End as a zombie-filled hellhole of chaos, open roads, radiation and/or a constant, universal The Purge.  Anything else simply does not compute for them.

There is a real sense that an actual apocalypse is coming soon

This has been happening in every generation of evangelicals since at least the 1970s.

And every time, the new generation thinks, "Yes, it's really going to happen this time!"

They can't wait for the Rapture so they can watch from Heaven all those who aren't Christian suffer disease, plagues and dictatorship. Horribly sadistic thinking, IMHO.

They are such vile, hateful scum. I've dealt with them all my life as a white Southern. If an afterlife existed, I would hope they would receive that which they most fear.

Sometime I really think all the insane crap going on is the Baby Boomers seeing their imminent deaths and going insane. After all, they were the most bestest generation to ever live.

I've been hearing that crap since I was born. The rest of you probably have too. What are the odds that it's going to happen soon?

Don't blame me. I never considered myself amongst a greatest generation.

As the national voting age is 18, sure are a lot of subsequent generational members who share in this insanity. If you are opposed to fascism but don't vote, don't blame others for your own folly.

Funny thing--the "Rapture" was more or less invented in the mid-19th century. There was some Christian dude who started thinking about it and then some girl had a dream about it, I think? And it stuck.

Sounds dumb, right? Everything about the Rapture is dumb. It's a weird dividing line in Christianity--on the one side, you have these doomsday Rapture nutjobs, and on the other you have "the Rapture? Lol wtf no" Christians. It's only a thing for the fundies and whatnot.

2023-01-29 3:30:51 PM
They *want* an Apocalypse, we should *give* them an Apocalypse - tailored to them, of their very own.

Yeah, I know all the reasons why we really shouldn't do that.  But it would be *so* satisfying, and it would solve *so* many problems for the sane of us.

2023-01-29 3:31:24 PM
The part I love about ignorant Christians is their belief of the End Times is coming despite there being no Roman Empire anymore for Jesus to come back and decimate.

It's almost as if Revelations was written by a guy high on shrooms after being exiled from Rome.

2023-01-29 3:32:05 PM
They want it to happen solely to see others suffer. Of course they're also going to suffer because if God was real he'd be more than a little pissed at how his "followers" have turned the religion into one of hate, fear, vengeance, and torment.

2023-01-29 3:33:37 PM
Christian Nationalists have had so many failed apocalypse predictions over the last two thousand years that the topic has its own Wikipedia page.

They apply the Roman Empire to everything and anything that upsets them as what Jesus will target when he comes back. But remember they also need Israel alive and intact for Revelation to happen.

My response to the "Rapture" and "End of Days" type Morons -

"*Ahem*  Look, you (supposedly) religious, Bible-is-the-literal-Word-of-God moronic pile of hyena vomit, your (supposed) Lord and Master, Jesus H. Christ (not to be confused with prosperity gospel, gun-totin' Jeebus), said, and I quote, "NONE SHALL KNOW THE DAY NOR THE HOUR.  BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS."

Now, exactly *what* part of that did you not understand?

Did I stutter, Motherfarker?

Whyinhell are you worried about 'The End of the World', anyway?  (Yes, yes, I know - it's good for fleecing the rubes and keeping papa's private jet gassed up.  Shaddup, I'm talking.)

Even a smidgeon of common sense (aha!  I've found the flaw in my diatribe!) would tell you that the End of the World does NOT matter.  As far as each and every one of us is concerned, the End of the World arrives the minute that we drop dead.

That's it.

That's the end of our ability to repair our sins, to do good in this world, to show our love for our fellow man.
It LITERALLY does. not. matter. if the rest of the world reaches the finish line at the same time as you do, or spins along merrily, with people living their lives, for another 100 millennia.

Once you're dead, that's it!  Game Over!  You're off the board, turn in your test paper!

There is NO more useless question to fret over in all of God's creation than "When will the world end?".

What you need to worry about is "How much good can I do to make the world a better place and to help my fellow man in *whatever* time I have left?"

But then again, you fundie assholes are too much of dishonest, greedy, evil bastards to tell any of *that* to your "flock".  Gotta get back to shearing them!

Now get out of my sight, you make me want to puke."

These are the people who believe in some rapture where they're all gonna be drawn into the stratosphere by some magical force that be the end of the universe which is an extension of a flat , no older than some 5 or 6 k years, while the rest of us get to live in the purgatory that is the earth these rapacious zealots have left behind.
Hmmm?

2023-01-29 3:38:46 PM

enry: A) they've been saying this for 2000 years.

Matthew 24:34

The fact that the world didn't end then, didn't seem to faze anyone. Which makes me wonder if the quote is authentic. (No Biblical exegesis in my background. At all.)
