It was also to keep the factories running in some capacity so they wouldn't be pillaged for scrap.

The guy responsible for that won all.kinds of accolades from the company for maintaining profitability during "extenuating circumstances ". AKA, the Coca~kola cumpany praised a Nazi. I wonder if they bought him a new Ford after the war?

Myself, being a current boat owner, knows that once you name your vessel, you never, EVER, EVER change her name!  The only time it can be done is when she changes hands to a new owner.  Because if you DO change her name while you still own it, bad things will happen...motors die, sails rip, hitting deadheads &/or sinking.  You know, the not-so-happy parts of sailing!
