Like they wouldn't shut down a street they were doing a photo op for him?

He's famous and all, but I doubt they shut down streets because he was taking photos with his daughter. Paul McCartney even takes the Metro.

This is silly. You can find about 1000 photos of Paul McCartney wandering around Britain alone and unmolested. He seems to take a lot of joy in just being around normal people without a fuss. I highly doubt he'd close down a city street because he happened to be in the neighborhood.

ha, nice!

It is pretty remarkable how Abbey Road is "just" another house on a normal street.  I did a walking tour of "the Beatles London" about 15 years ago, pretty cool.  Houses where they lived, where parts of 'Hard Day's Night" were filmed (and hadn't really changed, remarkably), and so on.  Ended at Abbey Road studios. The guy said, "sometimes they let us on the grounds, sometimes even let us inside, but no guarantees."  sadly, we weren't allowed on the grounds (despite his repeated requests;  a small group of like, 10 people.)  That sucked.

but yeah, it's about a 5 minute walk from the Tube station, houses, more houses, then bigger houses, another big house, more big houses, oh, this big house happens to be ABBEY ROAD STUDIO, then another house, more houses.....

and yeah, we got to do the Abbey Road crossing walk thing.  Pretty dang cool!

On another related note, in case you weren't aware, another Beatle was gunned down basically in front of his residence. I bet he has security around him at all times, even if he says otherwise.

call it apocryphal, but to the guy's point you responded to, the tour I did - admittedly 15+ years ago - the tour guide said it wasn't unusual to see Sir Paul walking from his nearby home to the studio.  "he lives just around the corner. I've seen him many times."  said he doesn't like taking pictures, something like, "because then he has to take 100 pictures, and a 5 minute walk takes 45 minutes and believe it or not, some folks don't know who he is, they just think if everyone is taking a picture he must be someone important."

"With some of the most magisterial songs The Beatles ever wrote, 'Abbey Road' was the final album they recorded, and stands among their finest. Prior to September 26, 1969, most people in the world were blissfully unaware that Abbey Road was the location of EMI's London recording studios."

So today I learned why they picked Abbey Road. I listen to some of the Beatles stuff in my later years and have an appreciation that John died too soon. I still think he is a regular clown for marrying that screechbot.

I had the opportunity to see Sir Paul McCartney at Coachella a few years back. I managed my expectations, being as he was in his late 60's at the time. I was blown away. Dude played for nearly 3 hours. High energy, working the crowd, his stage presence was humble yet totally confident. I've seen a lot of good live music, he's one of the best.

Will second the bet.

Paul's legacy has a lot of moving parts.

He picked up cow shiat to sell as cow patty fuel post-WWII.

His mom biked in the snow to deliver babies.

Pretty sure Paul doesn't do a lot of security in the places he feels safe. Like home.

At 80 and still selling out arenas, yeah, might wanna take security on tour.

Pretty well-adjusted considering John and George were attacked.
