Ain't teeth, a willingness to educate, or a moral compass.

Weird, it's not a region known for hanging on to the past.

His last game was a 21-15 victory in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee, over the University of Illinois. After the game, Bryant was asked what he planned to do now that he was retired. He replied, "Probably croak in a week."

Four weeks after making that comment, and just one day after passing a routine medical checkup, on January 25, 1983, Bryant checked into Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa after experiencing chest pain. A day later, when being prepared for an electrocardiogram, he died after suffering a massive heart attack.

Man knew himself well.

The coolest thing he did was the way he integrated SEC football. In 1970 (I'm pretty sure it was that year), he purposely scheduled his all-white Tide against an integrated USC team, knowing full well 'Bama was going to get its ass kicked. Sure enough, it happened. Within 3 years, every SEC football team was fully integrated.

That's how you get shiat done.

When I was in elementary school they took us to some giant assembly hall to hear Wallace and Bear Bryant speak. After the speech Bryant walked across the front row and shook every kid's hand and said "I hope to see you at Alabama someday". farker was recruiting them young!

If only a team mentality were so easily introduced to things like education and healthcare. Look-if we include everybody we can win!
