My immediate thought was "NO!!!"

Probably not the first baby born to a Clay County, SD family in 2023, but the first born at the relatively small regional hospital that does deliver babies, but if you have more than a minuscule chance of needing a Cesarean, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, or anything remotely complicating, you will get sent to the big two hospitals in Sioux Falls and induced.  And honestly, a lot of mothers just choose to go to the city anyway.

My neighbors and I used to take turns cooking dinner.  We decided that we had to do it at their place because the portable booster seat thing that they had for their 1 year old didn't have restraints like the high chair at their place.

There weren't any ratchet straps involved that night, but only because I had a really long belt (about 6' long) from garb for the renfest that we used to secure him.

/noticed that at least one donation was simply 'swag'

Calling it the 'home' is a stretch. As far as I understand it, only about one year of classroom training happens at Vermillion.  Everything clinical and hands-on happens at Sanford ("Sanford USD Medical Center") in Sioux Falls.

That makes sense, especially knowing Sanford=health care in that region.  At this point, they should just give up the pretense, and move the med school entirely to SF.
