Yeah Newark is grimy. Good Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian and Argentinian food in the Ironbound though. Haven't been down there in a while.

I debate this list.  Passaic, only a few miles from Newark is definitely dirtier.  A lot of Paterson, NJ too.  And Camden, NJ?  A hellhole.  And in Elizabeth, NJ?  The air itself is dirty.

Thankfully the service is 30 miles away from EWR.

Yup, Passaic and Paterson are def dirtier than Newark.   Irvington is worse than Elizabeth.

The Septa Market-Frankford line smells like pot, unless there is a homeless person who soiled themselves trying to get to 69th street for a shower and change of clothes at the mission.  Then you just need to change train cars (if all the cars are packed but one, don't get in that car)

Stayed at a hotel on Broad Street....

After checking in I met up with a fellow Fark member for drinks...hot some great bars as well as a fantastic sushi restaurant.

The next day, I went to Holt's Cigars after breakfast, followed by a cheesesteak at Pat's, then a nearby sports bar, and then a visit to the "Rocky steps" at the art museum.

Yes...my brief visit was touristy AF, but I only had 24 hours.

I didn't know that Rancho Cucamonga, California was a real place. I thought it was something that Anthony Clark made up to sound funny.

Arkanaut: Was Camden too small to make the list?

Camden doesn't exist as a city in any real management  sense. It's all county managed now. The
property taxes reflect this (staggering).

At this point, there just isn't much left in either of those towns to be dirty anymore..I'm not saying they
don't have issues with litter, but it's hardly anything like it was when they were both full on populated
ghetto places..It really just makes it look worse that things like streets, sidewalks and everything infrastructure
wise is just falling apart or damaged..Tipsy power poles that have been run into several times with bumper
height chunks taken out, few working street lights, constant ponding of water because of the crappy drainage.. The city won't / can't fix those things, because of corruption, and because it's not worth it to pave a whole  street for the two occupied houses that are left...Especially if those people aren't connected to
City Hall..Those two towns have almost nothing for tax base except what they can siphon from their casinos..

That was my wife's meal, I had thin ribeye steak and eggs. But yeah, very heart blocking food.

That corridor around Elizabeth always has, although there's a lot less manufacturing there now, so it's less.  And, sure, if you're around the Lincoln Tunnel entrance sucking up car exhaust fumes it stinks (although a lot less than decades ago when car exhaust wasn't well regulated). And frankly nobody should really roll down their car windows anywhere on the northern section of the NJ Turnpike.  But percentage-wise that's very little of NJ.

So it gets off "worst" lists by being such a bomb site of a place it technically doesn't exist as a legal entity?  Sneaky.

Sadly, yes. There are zero city services in Camden. Zero.
