I'm told that until we get a lot more guns on the streets, this shooting stuff will just get worse.

Wait. According to Fark, there have been only 139 mass shootings in the U.S. since 1982.

Which definition are we using today to inflate our talking point? It changes depending on the argument.

There are 67 people murdered in the US each day.

Sometimes some of them just happen to be in the same place.

Then the media reports on it and we act shocked before going back to doing nothing.

We can stop these stories showing up daily by raising the threshold for mass murder to something more in line with today's high capacity weapons and modern American sensibilities: say 10. Three isn't even Bronze Medal, it's coming in last in your Olympic event.

The more important question is how is the gun doing?

Obviously we care more about the guns than actual people in this country right?

I know this is scary stuff, Subby, but shooting up a car, such that authorities are confident that there's no danger to the general public, is called a "targeted shooting," not a mass shooting. Congrats on the Green, though

Some measures require 3 victims, FBI requires 4. Gun Violence Archive requires 0 dead, and sometimes not even shots fired.
All depends on what you want to prove that day as to whose numbers you use.

Is that the same math that allows the Treasury to raise the debt ceiling so you can incur more debt?

How's that working out?

When a dude killing a school full of toddlers, or another dude hitting like 500 people from a window overlooking a concert doesn't change anything, it's time to accept that you don't have billions of bullets and your gun tantrum will not produce fear anymore.  You will be a statistic.  You, the shooter, will only be a statistic now.

It's not a path to infamy anymore.  You won't cause change. Whatever you were doing, all it does now is make a bit of noise and then you die.

If Putins's nuke threats do nothing, imagine how meaningless your little storm of poo will be viewed.

The honorable way out is to be strong.
The cowards way out is suicide.
The sad little turd's way out is a gun tantrum.

Don't be a sad little turd.  We're going to start making sure that goes on your gravestones, if you do.

How Many Guns in America?
In 2017, there was estimated to be near 400 million guns in the United States between police, the military, and American civilians. Over 393 Million (Over 98%) of those guns are in civilian hands, the equivalent of 120 firearms per 100 citizens.
Today, the number of firearms in America is around 466 million due to record breaking sales during the pandemic.
The average gun owning American has 5 firearms, while nearly 22% of gun owners only have a single firearm.

The Institute of Medicine and the National Research Council released the results of their research through the CDC last month. Researchers compiled data from previous studies in order to guide future research on gun violence, noting that "almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year."

You sound foreign. You just don't understand America. How many oil rich countries has your country invaded under a pretense of not even barely credible bullshiat? We kill, for profit and for sport, it's what we do.  And if anyone wants to call in their marker on our debt, we will kill them too. The only math we need to do is 30 in the mag + 1 in the tube = 31 and even our schools can teach that.

Even according to the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action outdated page from 2021, they state:

"More Guns-Since the early 1990s, the number of privately-owned firearms has more than doubled, from about 192 million to more than 405 million"

I'm not arguing the number of firearms in the US, it's almost certainly far higher than 400 million.

"Most of this research-and there have been several dozen peer-reviewed studies-punctures the idea that guns stop violence.

"In a 2015 study using data from the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for example, researchers at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard University reported that firearm assaults were 6.8 times more common in the states with the most guns versus those with the least.

"Also in 2015 a combined analysis of 15 different studies found that people who had access to firearms at home were nearly twice as likely to be murdered as people who did not.

"This evidence has been slow to accumulate because of restrictions placed by Congress on one of the country's biggest injury research funders, the CDC. Since the mid-1990s the agency has been effectively blocked from supporting gun violence research.

"And the NRA and many gun owners have emphasized a small handful of studies that point the other way."
