If you had an uninsured construction site where minors were able to do that level of damage you're really, really, really lucky one of them didn't hurt themselves in the process.

The DirtBag Brewing Company owner told "Fox & Friends First" Friday...

So, it never happened? F&F is basically the Daily Fall of television.

This kinda stinks.
Where's the expected Gofundme or the hard right GiveSendGo campaign?

I really enjoy the "I'll probably never get..." stuff.....complaint about things that haven't happened yet.

Uninsured? You're a fool
Criminal proceedings? Hasn't happened yet.
Civil proceedings? Hasn't even tried yet

Holding a public pity party first? That's the ticket....maybe I'll get a bunch of free handouts and not have to do anything else...

We were uninsured due to prior thefts and vandalism... at this point it's a total loss for me.

Any small-business startup faces long odds, but an owner with this level of risk management was probably going to find catastrophic failure with or without persistent vandalism.

I'm skeptical too. It feels like not only is the damages over estimated but also that his insurance will probably pickup the cost while he also starts a gofundme campaign to cash in for enough to finish and get the place open. The entire story reads of opportunism and it entirely wouldn't surprise me if the kids smashed a few windows on the first day and once he found out his deductible was so high he might as well pay for the windows out of pocket which he couldn't afford after being soo outstretched on his budget already, he decided to commit insurance fraud and accuses the kids of coming back the next 3 days to destroy more and more. Like what farking kids opens up hydraulic lines to pour sand in.

If it comes out in the future he did the damage himself and scape goated the kids it wouldn't surprise me one bit because we've seen these story repeat over and over again, especially now that gofundme style campaigns have become a quick way to grift.

The kind of people who have a gang of kids who do this sort of shiat?  Yeah, they don't have any money either.  And if this guy is broke, ain't no farking lawyer taking this case either.

That wasn't gonna be anything but a barn.
Mr. Long may have dreamed of creating a brewery. But even without the vandalism, that shack was far from a construction site. The exterior wood sheeting is weathered silver. Judging by the grass, there hasn't been much movement around the site aside from the supposed kids.

And the damage to his 15 person van? That f*cker hasn't moved in two years, at least!

Buddy of mine's teenaged (at the time) son was with friends who decided it would be cool to go into a construction site and do a bunch of damage. Breaking windows, putting bags of cement down toilets, etc. Son and friends were caught, they were hauled into court and ordered to pay $25k in restitution. My buddy had to take out a second to cover it, took him years to pay it off.

Confirming your point, there is a path to resolution.

Now, he's a responsible parent and had assets that could be leveraged.

What happens when that is not the case? I have no experience in the matter. I imagine you can't get blood from a turnip, but one should at least try.

I find it difficult to muster sympathy for the underinsured businessman.
I would have thought an alcohol vendor would be a bit more anal about risk management

It has taken him 10 years from finding the property to the building's current state? Find a construction company, because you're never going to get that sucker finished.

This sort of thing is where the restorative justice movement has the right idea.  These little bastards are too young to get put in the slammer for life, but they are certainly old enough to attempt to fix at least part of what they did.  Me and my cousins used to do stupid shiat at construction sites when we were young, but it was pretty much limited to skateboarding on concrete housing slabs and stealing the flags off the poles around the new housing developments.   Not breaking out windows.   These kids are little assholes, and need correction before becoming fully fledged adult monsters.

And the parents need a beat down out in the woods.

We used to go into new home constructions before the finishing, flooring and drywall crews got in there and dump fake blood around and make fake satanic altars in the master bedrooms. I haven't heard any stories of people freaking out and moving after uncovering a pentagram spraypainted on the floor of their bedroom during renovations, yet.

If I found a pentagram under my carpet I'd be thrilled!  It shows that at least one person cared enough to keep the ghosts from getting out of the ground.

After viewing those pictures you're right on the money.  There doesn't look to have been any work on that building for an extended amount of time.

From their Facebook page, it looks like they've been working on this construction since 2016.

Speaking as a wholly unqualified and unverified Total Fark Detective®, this should be investigated for insurance fraud. There doesn't seem to be any construction activity on the site from June 2019 until the vandalism claim in January 2023. (that's over 3 1/2 years if you're counting)

The worst we ever did when I was a kid?  A house under construction, framed with a roof and heating ducts were all in place but no walls were covered yet.  We found a dead rabbit or squirrel or something and pushed it as far as we could into one of those ducts until it was out of sight.  Never heard if it later stunk up the place or if it's still in the same spot all mummified.

This.

Also:

1. why the hell leave a 15 passenger van on a seemingly unattended construction site?

2. why the hell did you have not have at least one security guard on duty over night if you had such valuable stuff on site.

3. if you can id the kids you can go after the parents for the kid's actions.

That's extremely dedicated vandalism. Vandals usually do a thing or two and leave. This stuff looks like a total obliteration effort designed to send a message.

Go one step further. If you have an uninsured site your building permit is not valid and any work done is illegal

I've seen four breweries and a distillery, within a couple miles of where I live, close down since the pandemic started. Two of the breweries were getting ready to open, one opened late summer 2020 and stayed open nearly two years, and the other always looked almost ready to open the whole time, but now is getting emptied out. It's sad putting so much money into a project for so long, just to see it fail.

But those folks just got screwed by the pandemic, and this guy sounds like he ran out of gas long before that. It's sad, but that happens in the brewery world.

This is a horrific act, and completely undeserved by the victim. That said, if you are investing your entire life into something- insure it. No joke.

Gee I wonder what farking happened in late 2019 that lasted for over 3 years and that might have had an adverse effect on someone trying to get financing or complete work at a job site?  HMM WHAT COULD THAT BE?!?

So yeah, I find these wacky accusations to be even more Fark than normal, because it seems like many farkers have a goddamn lacuna where their recollections of covid ought to be.  This is the most normal story of the last 3 years I've heard, and I have had my business close down for good and all as a result, and know about a dozen other people who've had similar events befall them, no insurance fraud required.
