America's CEOs anxiously developing a cross-breeding program with their workers and these plants.

Well, crap is fertilizer, though most plants wait until it's composted.  These guys are just cutting out the middlemen.

How do you get animals and insects to defecate there?  Install bidets? have reading material nearby?

This may sound crazy, but I actually spent about two entire minutes reading, ok skimming through, the article. I know, WHAT?! Anyway, near the end, it mentions a "mutually beneficial relationship with mountain tree shrews: the animals deposit nitrogen-rich waste into the pitchers while they feed on carbohydrates on the plant lids." So, kinda' like fruit.

Is there anything on the planet more like something you'd expect to find on an alien planet than carnivorous plants? Besides republicans, I mean?

The Fine Article's Fine Headline:

"Some species of carnivorous pitcher plant, Nepenthes, have switched from capturing and digesting insects to absorbing animal poop for their daily dose of nutrients - and it's a switch that's proving very beneficial."

Makes it sound like something new has happened, recently.  However, their link at:

"As discovered in 2009"

Makes it clear that it's "All of this new understanding" that is recent.

Schlubbe: America's CEOs anxiously developing a cross-breeding program with their workers and these plants.

Can't be true.  Why would they want their workers to eat them?

The research has been published in the Annals of Botany.

Right? David Attenborough has covered this shiat in at least two documentary series

What sort of god would have created this?

Sure, plants need fertilizer. But going from eating insects first, which in itself is just mind boggling, to attracting things to shiat on you, is absurd.

I should start a museum with at least this, and a sign pointing to it that reads "What sort of god would have created this?"

And the platypus. A museum of this and the platypus. And Donald Trump. Wait, I'll come in again.

Hmm.  If they know how to feed them, then this guy can start raising them:

(He's a former science teacher who got a few to get his students interested in plants, and started a business raising them)
