I did not know that Disney was involved in Midnight Madness until seeing this post.

Now that I do know, I think you made an excellent choice. I'm still a bit sad about Stephen Furst's death.

Britt Lombard as Captain Monistario in the 50's Zorro TV series. Absolutely ruthless (by 50's TV standards). Would punish the peons to trap or frame Zorro.

This list is crap. Chernabog wasn't a villain, had repeats of the same villain in their live action and animated versions, and totally snubbed Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  I award this listicle author no points, and may a god of some sort have mercy on their souls.

I don't think it's technically a Disney movie, but the Magnet from The Brave Little Toaster should be somewhere on the list. Talk about a terrifying pure evil villain.

Disney was pissed at Sorrel because the proposed Animator's Union was going to take away his biggest advantage in hiring: Disney had the highest pay rate for animators in the industry at the time and Sorrel's goal was to unionize so that all the animators from every studio, including Disney's competitors, received the same pay and benefits as Disney animators.

Not saying Walt was an angel, but he didn't just blindly hate the idea of a union. He wanted to keep that advantage in attracting talent.

My wife and I limited ourselves to the villains from Wikipedia's Disney Villains article.  We picked our favorite ones, and found there were six.  Then we realized that they boiled down to three types:

Gaslighting psychopaths: Mother Gothel & Hans.  These characters know they are evil, have clear but self serving objectives, and use charisma and mental & emotional manipulation to achieve them.

Heroes made me do it: Syndrome & Hades.  These characters have immense power paired with equally immense resentment.  They claim the hero left them no other choice but to do evil.

Self righteous narcissists: Gaston & Ernesto de la Cruz.  These characters are so self centered that they are incapable of believing that anything they do isn't justified.

Frollo would have been in my top 3, for sure. And I was surprised Hans was so far down the list, because his villain turn was so unexpected.

The other issue was Walt NEVER shared credit, which caused issues for the artists when they wanted to show their portfolios.

This guy took an entire ship's crew of hundreds, and lobotomized the ones he didn't outright murder.
Every.
Single.
One.
That always creeped me out as a kid, especially the scenes where the Palomino crew are going through the old crew's quarters, looking at family photos.

Yup. Especially after moving out to Hollywood. Ub Iwerks was his first collaborative partner (co-created Mickey, created Clarabelle Cow & Horace Horsecollar, refined the look of Silly Symphonies and the early Disney 'style') and Ib left in 1930 because Walt was taking all the credit while Ub did all the work. Even that had a reason since Universal screwed Walt out of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit prior to Disney Studios (Walt swore he'd never work on a character he didn't own after that). Like Chris Rock said, 'I ain't saying it's right, but I understand...'

Walt had some inexcusable stuff too, like not hiring female animators, even during WW2; he made a deal to exempt his animators from the draft & war service by doing those instructional and patriotic shorts. He was definitely a misogynist, possibly an anti-semite, debatable about being a racist (I think Song of the South was more a tone deaf failure than overt racism; again, open for debate).

In all, he was a highly complex man that was a mixture of the attitudes of his era, childhood trauma from the abuse by his father, and several early business setbacks. I'll admit to being a Disney/Marvel/Star Wars stan, but I also try to look at Walt with an even hand; praising the good and condemning the bad.

Get over it. George Lucas allowed the Christmas Special to be made, that makes him the worst person associated with Star Wars.
