wealth? my parents earned very little. their house cost $85.00 a month. that covered mortgage, insurance and taxes. but they made squat. now it's even worse. the dollar is worth .05.

This is exactly why art of eye candy alone(not messaging just beauty of design) should be divorced from it's creators and origin.

Style subby, style/flare/flavor/design eye, is the thing that can appreciated and enjoyed about anyone from anytime, as long as you have the mental capacity to allow a clock to just be a clock and not always a signal about culturally less evolved days we should be ashamed of.


In between praise and shame is tons of space to just hang out, enjoy what's there and not be all judgey all the time.

Not really.  It just depended on who you were.

According to one statistic, Americans never had more buying power per dollar earned than in the 1950s.

A friend who was in his late teens and early 20s in the 1950s remarked, "The 1950s were awesome."   As a white male with a good trade job working as a civilian contractor to the military, it would have been just that.  A middle class utopia.

However, ask anyone who was a minority, especially black, and you're likely to get a very different answer.

The capitalist part worked very well.  The small minded racist part not so much.   A decade later simmering tensions would finally erupt, giving everyone exactly what they deserved.
