Says He 'Could Have Been Dead'

Yeah, but you aren't. Thank goodness for vehicle safety regulations that helped ensure that. I was hiat by a car while walking through a crosswalk and thrown about 15 feet in the air a year or so ago. The worst I had was a severely sprained big toe. I could have been dead too. But I'm not :) quit whining.

It was fun explaining to everyone that 'I got hit by a car' and when they asked how my car turned out I had to say 'No, I was hiat by a car'

Glad he's ok, I guess. He's one of those people (like Aaron Rodgers) that have amazing talent and wrre fun to watch. Then their egos get overinflated and they run their mouths so much, they just annoy the shiat out of me by breathing.

McGregor was in the news earlier this week after denying allegations he kicked, punched and threatened to drown a woman on his boat in Ibiza last summer.

I think he deserved getting hit by a car.

I used to ride the streets of London every day. Europeans drive normal sized cars and are far more skilled and respectful of bicyclists. I tried riding here in the American suburbs and after more close calls in the first few weeks than I had in years overseas, I moved entirely indoors.

My nephew's best friend got bounced by a car while riding his bike.  Other than a few scrapes he was fine but his bike helmet shattered just as it was supposed to do.  Image if it was his head hitting the hood of that car and not the helmet.

I had a nasty fall from a horse- hit my head really hard.  I was wearing a proper riding hat, kitemarked etc.

I hit my head so hard, that I had no short term memory for about 10 minutes.  I didn't know where we were, or how we'd got there.
If I hadn't been wearing a proper riding hat... at best I'd have had a serious head injury.  at best.

I always wore one anyway, but since then I extra specially always do.

Sidewalks are a good feature to our society, but I could certainly make the argument that in this case I'm reluctant.

If you're implying riding on the sidewalk, please don't do that. It's far more dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists as drivers aren't expecting them and often have an obstructed line of sight than if they were in the street.

That being said, I ALWAYS ride with lights and helmet. Don't know how much close calls or collisions I've avoided or prevented simply because I had front and rear blinking lights on, making me that much more visible.

In the US? Yes.

It's easier and less painful  to kill your own self than risk cycling on the shoulders of most of the roads I used to to drive on.

That said there's some epic bike trails actually. you can go from pittsburgh to dc on a  old rail road cum bike trail.

Well, that sucks. I don't bike anymore because I'm afraid of getting hit by car. Even with bike lanes there is too much risk.

Huh? Are you suggesting driving on the road with a bunch of moving vehicles? That's the lesson here. People shouldn't do that. You can get run over. I used to bike, and after a few close calls, I decided to stop.

You could not be more wrong. The League of American Wheelmen was the first group to lobby congress for paved roads over 100 years ago before automobiles were anything more than a novelty for very few wealthy people.

Yeah, I am. I put more miles on the road with the bike than my car.
