Maybe they will admit that things are not turning out how they planned but they sure as hell won't accept blame for the shiatshow they have put on since. Nor will they be willing to do the work to repair the damaged relationship with the EU. Expect the Good Friday agreement to remain under the sword of Damocles ad infinitum. Unless Sunak starts getting a hardon thinking about recreating The Troubles.

/ And forget the dumbfarkers agreeing to re-join.
// That would require an admission too dear for the Stories.

If you could reason with Tories then you wouldn't have any Tories.

Since the failure is ongoing, with some fairly important issues yet to be settled, (Ireland, anyone?), then I'd say YES, there very much is a point to having an accurate assessment of where things stand and what the real options are to move forward.

Continued magical thinking is only going to make things worse.

Who's going to admit error first?  Brexiters or Trumphumpers?

How exactly does one debate the consequences? Seems to me like the consequences are happening. The only question to debate is whether to try and undo the damage or suck it up.

I suggest a drinking game from Page Six of the Sun.

Every time a Leaver stumbles and says "Breast-Tit" instead of "Brexit," drink an entire bottle of strong drink and then break the bottle over his head.

Or if they don't, break the bottle on their head until they do.

It's not like the consequences have been hidden, campaigners. You know what Brexit has done. It's been splashed across the news daily for two years.

The UK is going to discuss the consequences of Brexit?

OK, can they add "entire world sick of hearing the UK complain about Brexit for 7 years straight" to the list?

What is there to debate? This is exactly what Leave voters wanted. Well, not what most of them wanted. They wanted a new deal with the EU that was just different from the old one. But the point is the government took a vague poll and turned that into policy that tanked the country. That's what everyone wanted even though most people didn't actually want that.

If it only took 100,000 signatures to get them to discuss it, why is this only coming up now?

There's another article on the Independent website. The new chiffre for Brexit seems to be "declinism".

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/boris-johnson-jeremy-hunt-speech-brexit-b2270634.html

In parts the article reads like an obituary to Bozo. Too bad for the UK that it isn't.

Thing is, Brexit is just boring now. It was stupid, lead to a lasting and unfixable decline in the country that will likely get worse. They are stuck with Tory rule due to a decayed political system and the people who are sensible and want out of this cannot gain control.

That's it. This is the whole story. Britain shrinks by the day. Who cares?

That tattoo sounds AWFUL if you try to pronounce it with the high English acent that turns R into HL, so that "War" sounds like "Waahh" (the L sound is a slight movement of the tongue toward an L without the tip touching the roof of the mouth but making the sound with the back of the mouth, it's really hard for Canadians to do without getting a tongue cramp and falling over in pain).

What even is there to debate?

Brexit has made it easier for a very limited number of highly skilled workers from one preferred former colony to immigrate, it's a success!

Because it's funny, a comical relief, the page 3 joke, a "Treppenwitz", your daily dose of schadenfreude, your reminder that no matter how much you farked up, there's a whole country that managed to fark it all up to 11.
And they were told, they knew it, it was clear for everyone, it was unavoidable, as sure as death and taxes and still they thought they'd be the ones pulling it off against all odds.
