Close enough that it might've collected a geo synchronous satellite, but not so large that it would've made it to ground if it did come in.

It's only 8 meters long. It probably would have exploded in the atmosphere. Would have given a pretty good show though.

2023 BU is much smaller than many other close-passing asteroids that have made headlines in recent years, one of which was "the size of two Rose Bowl stadiums."

Or .0000257433 Rhode Islands, if you prefer more traditional units of measure.

My reckoning puts it at about 1 Dunkin Donuts/51,793.333 acres.
