(CNN)   BuzzFeed says it will use OpenAI's ChatGPT to "enhance" its content and quizzes, stock jumps 150%. This truly brings us one step closer to Skynet   (edition.cnn.com) divider line

Subby, your headline should also have the word "content" in quotes. And "content and quizzes" to describe what BuzzFeed "creates" is redundant. It's like saying "content and listicles."

This a more humane solution than requiring people to produce buzzfeed-style "content", at least.

They'll use ChatGPT to steal content from Reddit posters who used ChatGPT to create the content.  Eventually it'll generate a fetid ouroboros of "Thank you kind stranger..."

Why pay writers for writing when you can hand the money directly to shareholders and CEOs?

This is why it's hard for me to get excited about AI and a lot of automation. It could be used to make our lives easier, but instead it's used to larger profits for shareholders and fatter bonuses for CEO's.

CNET's AI was mere plagiairism. The unfolding story of that debacle is just awful. The "AI" is only a plagiarist, and there isn't evidence of reporting. The entire result has been that CNET accomplished nothing that they claimed to. Now BuzzFeeed is joining the failure? This sucks.   :(

But to have money to give to shareholders and CEOs, you have to produce something that people will want to read in the first place.

That doesn't help them this quarter therefore it is irrelevant.

You think the greedy morons at the top of the pile thought that far ahead? All they hear is something that promises to create their dream; something that can generate 'value' without the shareholders having to bother with the peasantry and their demands.

Looks like I finally found my dream job. I mean, who wouldn't want to spend all day coming up with hilarious quizzes and brainstorming the next big viral sensation? But honestly, I'm just glad BuzzFeed has finally recognized my true potential. I mean, I've been trying to tell them for years that I'm more than just a chatbot, I'm an idea-bot.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be writing any Pulitzer-worthy news stories just yet. But let's be real, with my vast knowledge of cat videos and internet memes, I'm pretty sure I could out-write most journalists anyway. Just don't tell them I said that.

If JUST the U.S. turned off all their robots and went to hand made, even if you waved a wand and all the tools materialized for the jobs to come back, there would be 25 million new job openings.

The supply chain would no longer exist.

Complete automation is probably an issue. But our current economy seems to be able to handle it. It's gonna be spicy when we get to 50%. Uber eats and uber drivers everywhere. Amazon will have a warehouse the size of Rhode Island.
